In Device Manager

Microsoft DVD/CD-ROM drives

"This device is not working properly because Windows

cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"

 

Can I download anything to resolve this?

I don't have access to my DVD/CD-ROM drive

 

Any help or advice appreciated.

The vendor is Microsoft - I've googled without success.

Any other suggestions all?

Hello eXistenZ,

 

I think MS is not the vendor of the drive, check the drive itself for the

vendor. Because it can not read the info from it, there will be only a disk

drive presented and that's the reason for the MS description. So open the

machine and have a look.

Use Device Manager to remove the drive. Restart and let Windows discover the

New Hardware and install a driver for it. DVD/CD ROM drives do not reqire a

driver from the manufacturer.

 

Windows should install the following driver set:

cdrom.sys

redbook.sys

storprop.dll
