nVidia drivers for Windows 2000

Did nVidia stop making drivers for Windows 2000? I've noticed the

latest driver for my video card (a GeForce 7900 GTO) is from May, last

year:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_94.24_2.html

Exploring their list of 8xxx series video cards reveals they have

never released drivers for Windows 2000 for that entire line of cards.

Following ATI's example, they are just moving away from the last good

Windows operating system, now only supporting Windows XP and Vista (my

previous ATI Radeon card's official drivers were last released in

February 2006). Are these companies choosing the right path in

ditching Windows 2000? Alot of people still use it. I bet nVidia gets

alot of calls about, and returns of, their 8000 series cards from

people using Windows 2000.

It's nice to see that there are still Omega Drivers being made for

Windows 2000. I am planning to switch over to those in the near future.

As far as I know NVidia still has win2k drivers.

In general, however I've found that XP drivers will work with win2k...

If there is an installer package that starts...but then halts due to the

'wrong' operating system being detected...

I;ve kept the installer open...then searched for the extracted files...

then renamed the folder they were in...that way wen the installer package is

closed...the files that may have been removed...

are still on the drive...and can be used to manually install the device
