my computer starts up and freezes

when i turn on my computer xp pro starts the desk top screen comes up with no

icons or start button so i cant go any further

i have tryed restarting with the last good configeration but that wont work

either

This is a newsgroup for 64bit operating systems. If you don't get the

answer here try an XP newsgroup like microsoft.public.windowsxp.general
