Unable to locate the Desktop Icon Window

That is the exact message that pops up in a dialog box each and every time I

click on the "Show Desktop" icon in the Quick Launch bar.

"Show Desktop" works as expected, just that annoying Fatal Error dialog box.

I've searched Google with no luck.

I've searched Google Groups with no luck.

I've searched Microsoft with no luck.

This is a newly built box with a quad core processor, 4GB RAM and a 1TB disk

array, dual booting 2K and XP ... both fully patched. Oddly enough, I see

exactly the same behaviour when booted to XP.

Try deleting the shortcut and recreate it using instructions from this site:

Restore Show Desktop Icon to Quick Launch on Taskbar

Re: Unable to locate the Desktop Icon Window

Thanks for your response.

Unfortunately, the result is the same "Fatal Error" Dialog Box.
