Profiles removed from Windows XP on logoff

We just moved from NT 4 to AD (Server 2003).

I have a few users that, when they log off, their profiles are removed

from the computer.

The behavior seems to be linked to moving their accounts from the

administrators group locally into the power users group via domain

users.

Not everyone is affected. In fact, most are not, but I'm not certain

about reconfiguring local permissions on the remainder of my

workstations because I've lost several profiles from this 'bug'.

I've thought about deleting and re-creating the user accounts, but

that's a hassle... Any other ideas?

If you don't get a good answer here, be sure to try a server newsgroup like

microsoft.public.windows.server.active_directory or

microsoft.public.windows.server.general

I know you are talking about what is happening on the clients, but the

experienced folks with this are the administrators in the server ng's.

I'm answering my own question...

I discovered that some of my users were also members of the Guests and/

or Domain Guests groups.

Removing my users from the guest groups 'fixed' my problem.

I don't recall them being members of those groups prior to the upgrade

(in-place NT --> AD), but I suppose anything is possible.
