Hi all:

I am running Vista x64 on an ASUS P5 motherboard which says it can support

up to 8 GB RAM. I have 2x2 GB chips in memory bank one, and 2x1 GB chips in

memory bank 2 for a total of 6 GB. However when I start the machine, in the

BIOS the memory shows up as 5056 MB, and in Vista I show 4991.

Can anyone make some suggestions?

Thanks.

John.

Take out one of the 1x1GB and see what you get. Then try with just the

other one in. One slot or one dimm may not be right.

Hope into the BIOS, look for an option mentioned memory remapping (post

back if you can't find it, I'll look up the exact text), it mentions it

should be set one way for 32-bit and one way for 64-bit.

Flip it to the opposite (sorry, I can't tell you if it's enabled or

disabled, that varies depending on the specific motherboard and BIOS

version, I've got both varieties here) and see if that fixes your woes.
