Vista and USB Mass storage device problems...

I just can't seem to access my external hard drive... At one point I was able

to. it saw it as just another folder in my computer but now I can't get it

back for the life of me. I updated my ports, I tried patches but all I ever

got was "this update does not apply to your system".

 

It shows up in the device manager and says its working properly and when I

unplug it from my computer I hear the little "disconnect sound" same for when

I reconnect it except its the "reconnect sound".

 

Using vista home premium 64bit

4gigs of ram

How does it show up in Disk Management? You may need to make changes there,

like assigning a drive letter, etc.
