Hi, digidish.

>all the programs I download dont

Well, let's start with just one. Could you tell us the name of the program

and where you downloaded it from? Step by step, what did you do and what

result did you see? If there was an error message, please quote it

verbatim.

Re: VISTA 64 BIT HELL

you need to insure you are downloading the VISTA compatible versions of the software.

trend and mcafee are known to be incompatible with vista.

suggest using AVG or AVAST, both free and excellent virus programs.

Re: VISTA 64 BIT HELL

I would do an in-place upgrade to correct what sounds to me like some fairly

severe issues in the OS. To do an in-place upgrade, start Setup on the

desktop of the system and select the upgrade install option. This is

Vista's equivalent to XP's repair install. You will not have to reinstall

any apps.

Re: VISTA 64 BIT HELL

sounds like you have a more serious problem than just the installs not working correctly.

do you not think that after at least 4 programs that fail in the same manner you have more serious problem.

better take the advise of the next responder and do an in place upgrade. aka repair install.

I seriously doubt that there would an issue like that from using a Microsoft

Vista dvd. How did you do the in-place upgrade and where did you get the

Re: VISTA 64 BIT HELL

NIC = Network Interface Card

What Charlie means is that your download problems might be related to the

drivers settings for your netword card.

Once you get to Device Manager, double click on your Network card and go to

the "Advanced Options" tab.

There you have the settings that might need being changed to solve your

problem.

Someone else will have to pick it from here to help you further.

Carlos

P.S.: You may also find more information in the networking newsgroup.

Re: VISTA 64 BIT HELL

Windows Setuponecare exe. When I download this ,, This is what I get

(windows has found a problem with this file, publisher unknown this file was

blocked because it does not have a valid digital signature that verifies its

publisher. If I save the file to the download folder and then run the file

this is what I get, setuponecare is not a valid win32 application.

Thanks
