Removing the Automatic Update taskbar icon?

Anyway to remove that dumb Automatic Update taskbar icon that pops up on

occasion (when updates are available)?

If you disable Automatic Updates, it stays there permanently. If you

select just notify me when something is available, you have to go in each

time and decline it. I want it gone permanently.

Turning off the Automatic Updates "feature" leaves that taskbar icon in the

tray permanently - and it's taking up valuable space on my taskbar.

Disable automatic updates.

That's news to me. I've got WU disabled and don't have that problem.

Never have... probably never will.

I'm asking this again, since I got no answer yet...

Anyway to remove that Automatic Update taskbar icon that pops up, on

occasion, when the updates are available?

If you *disable* Automatic Updates, the icon stays there, permanently. If

you

select "Just notify me when something is available", you have to go in each

time, and decline it. I want the taskbar icon gone, permanently.

Turning OFF the Automatic Updates "feature" leaves that cautionary taskbar

icon in the tray, permanently, and it's taking up valuable space on my

taskbar.

Yes. Turn off Automatic Updates.

Listen up: Turn off Automatic Updates.

Can't duplicate that here. Maybe you have downloaded updates ready to

install.

As to your "valuable space" on the task bar... increase your

resolution to 1024x768 or greater, pops.

Doesn't work. I've already said that. Reading 101?

Nope. YOU can't duplicate it. But maybe some others can.

No way, Jose. 800 X 600 works great for me.

Then you've played with your system TOO much since installing it, and

then playing with it again and then running System Restore.

Congrats.

You've broken something that has never been broken.

I installed it almost 3 years BEFORE you started playing with XP,

laddie.

That's probably the problem. It's out of date.
