file corruption and other problems

I'm using Windows 2000 with DOS v5 and have one serious problem and a

couple of small ones. I had about 500 jpgs which I transferred from my

old machine, mostly of album covers and musicians etc. Almost all of

them have somehow become corrupted and unreadable. Worse than t hat,

some save under different names; I don't know how this came about, and

am extremely worried about this. The last time I had a problem like

this was with WordStar restoring from floppies donkeys years ago.

I am also unable to get long file names onmy machine, and video sites

such as Youtube and other media play too fast.

Can anyone offer any advice on this? My priority is to restore the

jpgs and to prevent further file corruption.
