I'm been using with great success for many years a Microsoft Wireless

IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0 optical mouse, with the receiver plugged into

a PS2 port (via a USB/PB2 adapter) on the rear of the computer. (Don't

ask why I didn't use a spare USB connection back there, because I don't

remember.) Recently, after using the computer an hour or so, the mouse

stops working, like its batteries were weak, but they aren't.

I've use Control Panel to uninstall and reinstall it. It will work for a

while, then the pointer motion gets "sticky," and finally stop working.

The really strange part is that if I plug a corded mouse into a USB

port, the wireless Microsoft one starts working.

Any suggestions, other than leaving the corded one plugged in? I am

experimenting with plugging the receiver into the USB port, but it's

puzzling why things that had been working right for so long no longer do.

Thanks,

Ray
