Guest Randy Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 I have a customer with a single 80 Gig drive. They need to move to a larger drive but I need some help with the best way to get this done. Is add the larger drive and then mirroring it and then break the mirror possible. Thanks for any input.

You may not be able to boot the server with the new disk - see below - but you won't lose anything in the process. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;113977 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/167045/EN-US/
Guest 3c273 Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Re: Best Way to Replace Small Drives on Server New drives usually come with cloning software. Maxtor drives come with MaxBlast for example. Usually it is just a matter of installing the drive as a slave drive, cloning the master to the slave, shutting down, setting the slave to master and removing the old drive. You should also be able to find instructions on the manufacturers website. But it would be worth a try prior to purchasing a server-specific clone utility
