Guest Anton Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 http://www.nu2.nu/bootdisk/ntboot/ have one for starting, while these http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm and backup use at least 4, what differ?
Guest Anton Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Re: Starting floppys PS First one is on one disk, second one didnt load down complete on 4 disks, as Msofts rescue but that one started to install. What differs and should the last one install? Guest Anton Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Re: Starting floppys I need a working starting disk and used the simplest one, as have not worked so far. How can a simple one on one disk work when others need 4, its smarter? W2's rescue disks started installing, is that as my W2k CD? Guest Pegasus \(MVP\) Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Re: Starting floppys You need to be a little more precise. I can think of at least four completely different boot diskettes: a) A Linux-style boot diskette, to give you access to the hard disk without using any Win2000 files. b) A Win98 boot diskette, to give you access to a hard disk without using any Win2000 files. c) A set of Win2000 Recovery Console diskettes, to get you into the Win2000 Recovery Console. Much easier to use your Win2000 CD for this. d) A Win2000 startup diskette, to launch Win2000. This is why I asked you what your aim was. Its option d) when I've tested that simple one as hasnt worked so far, Bootdisk seem to have at least 4 but stopped downloading at 3½. I have several other CPs working with W2000 and XP dual boot. Since I cannot see your machine, you need to report what you did and what exactly you saw on the screen. "Hasn't worked well so far" does not tell me a great deal.

Going > to w2k CD r to fix it they have other names, how can I id them? > PS I have W98 on first, then 3 W2000s, as seen in P.magic with rescue disk. Starting with that rescuedisk for 2k/xp shows 1 copied part as needs chkdsk, 1 windows just restarts and 2 copied cant read 2 files. After running bootfix and mbr they have come in another order. If I like to run chkdsk and copy those files without doing it on all parts, how can I know which is what when they change names from install to running CD and r?

Sorry, I haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about. I will now stop monitoring this thread.
