Application Path not set correctly when launching 32-bit EXE with

I have a 32-bit ActiveX application. I install it on a computer running XP

x64. The App Paths registry entries are placed under the

HLKM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths subtree.

When I try to launch the application via COM (CreateObject in VB), the App

Paths entries are not used. I have found that if I manually create the

entries under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths

subtree, they are accessed and used.

Sure seems like a Windows bug to me, but I can't seem to find any mention of

it in the Knowledge Base. What gives? Is there a fix?
