Windows 2000

Internet explorer 7

Windows keeps closing, sometimes with a "encountered a problem needs to

close" message but mostly closes without warning, can happen every few

seconds and is driving me crazy. I have not installed any new soft/hard ware,

what can be causing this?

Windows 2000, with IE7? Are you sure of that? IE7 cannot be installed

on Windows 2000, if you did manage to install it then the errors you get

are not surprising. Take a look in the Event Log to see if anything

useful is logged.

I recommend briefly stating the KIND of "problem" in the

subject.

What exactly do you mean by "Windows keeps closing... every

few seconds"? Windows 2000 takes quite a bit more than

"a few seconds" to either shut down (typically 30 sec), or

start up (typically 90-120 seconds), so I can't envision it

being able to "close [and reopen?] every few seconds".

I sure wish *MY* Windows 2000 was that fast!

Or, do you mean that your Windows crashes a few seconds

after startup?

Or do you mean that individual programs shutdown unexpectedly?

Or do you mean something else completely?

Internet Explorer 7 is NOT supported on Windows 2000.

Re: What can be causing problem

Internet Explorer 7 isn't supposed to run on win2000, but if you found a

way to make it, could you tell me what you did? What exactly do you mean

by windows keeps closing? Do you mean that IE keeps closing, or is

windows 2000 crashing after you boot up and log in? If you did make ie7

run then maybe ie7, if that's what it really is, is causing all the

errors. You also could have some kind of virus on your computer. You

might want to try and run a virus scanner, although if you can't get

into windows 2000 for more than a couple seconds, you might want to get

any important stuff off the computer, format the hard drive, and

reinstall win2000.
