Guest Stubby Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Win2KSP4. I'm logged in as an Administrator. Internet zone allows download, init and play for ActiveX controls. But Flash Player doesn't install. Adobe.com has hundreds of pages of text but nothing helps. I downloaded and ran their SubInACL info. What else is there left to try? TIA

Guest Stubby Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Re: How to install Flash Player 8 No error messages! Nothing in Event Viewer. I installed Adobe Reader 8 and I see those successful completion events. I would like to check the access SYSTEM has to various directories but I have forgotten how. Guest JM Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Re: How to install Flash Player 8 You might want to try installing Adobe AIR. I think that it includes flash player with it. Guest JM Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Re: How to install Flash Player 8 Adobe AIR is a cross-operating system runtime that lets developers combine HTML, Ajax, Adobe Flash®, and Flex technologies to deploy rich Internet applications (RIAs) on the desktop. Adobe AIR allows developers to use familiar tools such as Adobe Dreamweaver® CS3, Flex® Builder™ 3, Flash CS3 Professional, or any text editor to build their applications and easily deliver a single application installer that works across operating systems. How does Adobe AIR compare to Flash Player? Adobe Flash Player is a browser plug-in that provides advantages for users and content creators in the browser, including the ability to deliver RIAs in the browser. Adobe AIR incorporates technologies originally developed in Flash Player and enables rich Internet applications on the desktop. Adobe AIR and Flash Player provide complementary deployment methods for the RIAs. This was copied from the adobe air FAQ at http://www.adobe.com/products/air/faq/ Hope it helps.
