Guest jf19 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 When I try to remove Google Earth 3.0 I get the following: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "Google Earth.msi". I don't have Google Earth.msi on my computer, so how can I get rid of this version? I can download the latest version of Google earth but when I try to run it, it says my current version is 3.0 and I need to upgrade to 4.3. So somehow I need to get rid of version 3.0.

What is the error message you get when you try to install the current version? Guest Marty Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Re: Can't remove ver 3.0 of Google Earth I had a similar issue and had to uninstall the windows installer and get the original installer version 1.0 and then update it and then it worked. I had the same problem uninstalling Google Earth. When I tried to remove google earth I get the same error. File "Google Earth.msi" was missing. I found solutions of this problem. Solution is following: 1. Find out exactly what version of Google earth you have installed. (e.g. I had 4.1.7087.5048 Beta) 2. Download installation package of this version. Run this downloaded Google earth.exe. When you see (within progress of installation) "unpacking google earth.msi" STOP and do not continue installation. Don't click on anything. 3. Search your hardisk and find file "Google earth.msi" which has been created in step no. 2. (somewhere on harddisk, propably in directory Document and setting/*user*/Local settings/temp or somewhere like that) 4. Try to uninstall Google Earth. Start - Control panel- Remove program. Wait until you get error Google earth.msi is missing, then click browse and manually find file Google Earth.msi according to step. 3. After you click on that file the uninstallation should finish successfully. At least this procedure help me. I got rid of Google Earth, and I was able to install the newest version. Nothing else doesn't work. I searched through registry and manually deleted all keys containing string "google earth", i renamed directory InstallShield (/program files/comon files), i tried Windows Install clean Up program, and other solutions I found in internet. good luck, and write if you are success. -- negociator
