Hi, what needs to be done for the following scenario: A web server in DMZ needs to be setup to use a Terminal Licensing server so more than 3 people can connect at once. It is not apart of the domain and it is a firewall between the web server and the licensing server. I've tried to open up for port 135 and port 5000-5100 in the firewall. I've set up the rpc dynamic ports to be static on both machines( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/154596 ). And rebooted both of them. But it still can't find the licensing server. What have I missed? Hello: I have a Windows 2003 Server Environment. I have 40 Windows XP computers on my environment. I push all the Windows updates from my server to all the workstations using WSUS. I have set it so after it installs the updates it will reboot automatically. One computer in particular, after it rebooted and user logs in he doesn't get his own profile, he gets a brand new profile. He has to reboot the computer one more time in order to get his old profile back. Is their a fix for this issue? Thanks in Advance

I measured time to transfer 1048MB file between partitions in a same physical drive. It took about 6.66 seconds. The physical dirve is SATA-150 and CPUs are Opteron 244x2(1.8GHz). The machine is about 4 years old. Is this speed normal?

I'm installing a new DC in SUBNET2 that will act as a secondary domain controller for our DC in SUBNET1. Are there any special concerns being that the 2 DC's are supporting the same domain but on different subnets, connected via a VPN? Do I need to do anything to make sure the servers in SUBNET2 know to use the new DC in their subnet ? Thanks Nick

WindowsXP SP 3 Just a couple of minutes ago I attempted to use fixmbr command from a Recovery Console cd(a burned cd image file of recovery console) everything went fine. I saw the command prompt window flash and it even gave me the warning aboutm proceeding. But whrn I rebooted grub(linux bootloader) was still there. There is nothing wrong with my computer mind you, I can boot in to either system. The only reason I am doing this is to make ntldr my bootloader. Why didn't fixmbr work?

I don't know if I'm in the right group or not, as I cannot locate a specific Server 2008 category. Many times, when I attempt to bring up the task manager I am running into a problem. Hi there, By mistake on my XP home PC I deleted a 250 GB drive NTFS partition during XP set up, have not formatted it yet. It is not the system drive, is the data drive D:, with personal data on it. I am unable to access a program I just downloaded because I lack read/write access (apparently). I am an administrator and when I right click on the folder I do not have the Security Tab appear to ensure I have the correct permissions on this folder. Any ideas how I can check the security settings on this program??

Try setting the service for delayed automatic start. (that's a new option in Server 2k8.) You're likely running into a timing issue. That being said, the service needs to be a _service_, with no console or active user logon required. Need a little help, Environment Windows 2003 server Raid 1 run on Disk 0 & 1 = C: drive Raid 1 run on Disk 2 & 3 = D: drive Getting message that Disk 2 is going bad. Now the question if disk 2 goes bad will it automatically read disk 3? Please forgive I am new to TS Web access on 2008. We have installed a test server and installed TS and IIS on it. We are looking to publish programs to TS Web Access, have a hole poked in the fire wall to allow Internet users to access our "site" and use their programs from home. I have TS Web access working great on the internal network but when the same laptop is at home and we connect to our TS Web Access server from outside the network we get an error that states "The Remote Computer could not be found". What could have done wrong? Do we need to open more ports for RDC? I was under the impression we just need port 80 & 443 open. Thanks…

Does Win2K8 allow a remote desktop from the server to itself? I get a "Your credentials did not work". The 2nd session never comes up, just the logon remote desktop logon box. Basically I want to have a 2nd session to copy large amounts of data will using session#1 independently. This work in Win2K3.

Hi I'm in the process of setting up loopback processing and would like to check a couple of things. I have set up the GPo "TS Computer" to Replace and applied it to the Ou in which the TS are members of and given the TS Users "read" and "apply group policy" and TS Admins "Deny Group policy" All my settings are in the computer configuration and i have disabled the user configuration. Now I want a seperate GPO for TS Users, called TSUsers do I still need to set Looback to replace here as well? I am assuming that I apply it to the same OU that the Terminal servers are in?

We need to move our 2003 TS from a Windows 2000 domain to a Windows 2003 domain (with new server & domain name). The TS is in its own OU and has a Group Policy established for it. How do we leave this GPO intact when it gets moved? Thanks!

I was using Regedit to search for a line of text. I did my search, and closed Regedit. Later I tried to search again for something else, and found Regedit was still stuck where I left off in my last search. It did not give me the "opening screen", it just went right into that old search. I did a complete reboot and power down, and it's still stuck in that old search. How do I kill that old search and get it back to normal?

I have a situation where I have a WinXP SP2 computer (Compaq) with no internet connection. I would like to apply all of the missing updates & patches to it. I have a SP3 CD that would probably be the easiest way to update the computer but I dont want IE7. Can IE7 be removed or de-selected from the install? I also have another XP SP2 computer at different location (Dell) that has an internet connection and is up to date via Windows update (no IES7). The computer is set to download, but not install updates. Can I copy the Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder to the first computer (it is completely different hardware)?
