Hi, I have in my organization two server: one server IBM x206 with 4GB of RAM that works as Domain Controller, File server one server IBM x3400 with 4GB of RAM that works as SQL Server 2005 for 15 users and Backup Server, Antivirus server I need to install Terminal server, and probably on the x206 How can i estabilished how many users can works in Terminal Server without affecting too much network and system performance? TIA

I used Acronis to backup a 40GB drive and then restored to a 70GB drive. I verified that the new partition is the active partition. However, I'm just getting a flashing cursor. Hi. I'm using MS Office Home and Student 2007 with XP SP3. Sometimes, not always, when I close a Word doc I get the following error pop-up. "Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the Inconvenience. The information you were working on may be lost. I have a Sony Vaio Model PCG-K15 notebook Running Windows XP That the hard drive crashed on. I can not get into the system at all. I have purchased a new western digital drive that will arrive in the next few days. The Vaio did not come with any discs and when I spoke to them the other day they said there are no startup up discs available for this machine. How can I get my XP back into the machine? Can I download a boot disc on my other computer from microsoft and then put it in my notebook to get the system started? Really at a loss here an Sony is no help. Hi: I have one computer on my network. Every Sunday evening it automatically installs Windows Updates, after it installs the update it restarts the computer automatically. One of the computer, everytime it installs the updates and restarts the computer when the user logs on he gets a brand new profile. So I have to retstart the computer again then he gets his old profile back. Is their a permanent fix for this issue? Thank You

I have just upgraded to SP3, but met up with some problems associated with keys. First, I have Chinese and Japanese input method installed. But after the upgrade, the ctrl + space and alt + shift key for swiching between input methods no longer work in some (not all) programs, e.g. Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer. But they do work with Notepad. Second, the Google Desktop search bar (the bar that appears when hitting "ctrl" twice") no longer appears after hitting "ctrl" twice. I am sure this is with SP3 since no similar problem occurs until I installed it on my HP laptop. I have successfully replicated it with another HP laptop, btw.

Hello everyone...I'm trying to use Remote Assistance to fix some things on my girlfriend's computer. Getting the error message: "A Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer could not be resolved." Gurus, If I install Windows components on my Windows Server 2003 SP2 computer, I first get prompted for the location of the Windows Server 2003 SP2 CD-ROM and I point the installer to the C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles directory. Then I et prompted for the location of the original Windows Server 2003 CD-ROM, which means I have to point it to the CD-ROM drive, which only contains the Windows Server 2003 CD-ROM (with SP1) media. Then the installer is happy and finishes it's job. My question is, why does the installer ask to pull files from the SP2 CD-ROM directory only to later ask for files from the SP1 CD-ROM? I'm fairly new with admining a windows server so please be kind... I need to set up a client to RDP into our Windows 2003 server. How can I limit them to only running one application and not having access to anything else on the server?

Hi, All our users -include laptop users - are configured with roaming profiles - all stored on a file server in our large well connected head office. Many of the laptop users travel to some of our smaller sites which have very slow links e.g. 512k /128k ADSL. I just wanted to confirm my understanding of roaming profiles - specifically that when the user signs on in the small site that Windows XP will try to pull down the profile from the central file server. W2K3S - SP2. Terminal Services have never worked on this server yet. After removing, rebooting, and reinstalling Terminal Services for Admin access only, I get the following System Event ID: 7000 - "The Terminal Services service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified. " When starting the Terminal Services Configuration snap-in I recieve the following message: MMC could not create the snap-in. This is not an AD controller. I have no problems on other W2K3 servers. I searched around and didn't find anything relevant - yet.
