Hi, is possible to do a native port forward on W2k3? example, if cames from 2121 port redirects to port 80 on the server... because I think that my router is blocking default ports like 80... the 211 port I can reach the server... Many thanks! thank you very much Mr Gates for Windows and MS!

Win XP Explorer - Not Responding
by Guest marinusw- 2 replies
When I use XP explorer to view the contents of a folder it freezes and does not show the contents. When I go into Task Manager it says the program is Not Responding. This only happens with a select few subdirectories. I suspect it may be due to a large file in the directory I am viewing and "thumbnails" possiblly set as the view option. But that is just a guess. Any ideas? How can I change the view options (i.e. to Details) without actually having to go into that folder? (since the problem is it freezes before I can get it). Thanks for the help.

Session Broker and TS Gateway
by Guest Dylan- 6 replies

I've followed the step-by-step guide for TS Session broker and TS Gateway but was wondering how to make both work together. With TS Session Broker, all TS servers are published on the DNS with the same farm name in a round robin fashion but TS Gateway manages TS servers with security group. HOw can one publish just the Gateway server to public facing and still achive load balancing using TS Session Broker without publish IP of the TS servers? Thanks.

Router firewall no protection?
by Guest Anders F- 1 reply

I asked this on the microsoft.public.windows.networking.firewall group but this is pretty inactive and I got no answer. My old system is XP Pro SP3 and I use this to configure the router. My new computer is an ASUS Eee PC 900, Linux version. I have not used it very much, just checked to see if I can access the internet. I can. --------- I have a second computer so I bought a router (Zonet ZSR0104CP) to keep them both connected to the net. This router is advertised as having a firewall but to me, this firewall seems like nothing but a joke. As I understand it, a firewall should keep the bad guys out. There are some things I can configure, I will list …

Terminal services keeps breaking
by Guest yttep.giarc@gmail.com- 0 replies

This is driving me nuts. Terminal services keeps breaking on our servers. The error message you see from the Remote Desktop Client is, "The client could not establish a connection to the remote computer." The server is listening on port 3389 (svchost.exe). A package capture shows the TCP three-way handshake completes and then the server sends a Reset. That is. SYN (from client) SYN/ACK (from server) ACK (from client) RST (from server) Every time it happens I'm able to fix the problem by reinstalling the Terminal Services Device Redirector using the following command, but I have no idea why it keeps happening. devcon.exe -r install %windir%\inf\ma…

PIF files in XP/Vista
by Guest eagle@multi.bits- 0 replies

I have found a description of the PIF file format on http://www.wotsit.org/ but it isn't very complete. Is the PIF file format the same on Vista as on XP? Where can I find a complete description of PIFs under recent Windows? I want to recover my original _default.pif file on a Sony Vaio with some sort of weird proprietary recovery disc and recovery partition, is that possible without a complete reinstall of Vista?

USB - Safely Remove Hardware utility
by Guest JohnB- 23 replies

The "Safely Remove Hardware" utility that sits in the System Tray.... does anyone use that? I have never used it. But recently a couple things came up that made me wonder if I should be using it. A couple weeks ago I was at someone's laptop and I had plugged in and later removed my USB pen drive. He commented that I should be using the SRH utility "because he had burned up a USB pen drive by *not* using it". I have several of those drives and have never had an issue... and like I said, I've never used that utility to disconnect a USB device before unplugging it. But today I had unplugged a Maxtor OneTouch external USB drive - and did not use the …

Add or Remove Programs
by Guest Stu- 0 replies

I have a strange problem. In my Control Panel, I have two listings of "Add or Remove Programs". One does nothing at all when opened, the other opens, but there NO programs listed. Also, If I try to use Windows Update, it never finds Windows Site, I have to ctrl, alt, del and end the program. I ran a virus scan (Norton with the newest defs), nothing. Everything else on the internet works. What can I do to correctthis problem? I was thinking of reloading XP, but then I'd have to go through all the service pack updates, etc. and I don't know if even that will fix the problem. Has anyone ever heard of this? If it matters, I'm using IE 6.0. (I hope this isn'…
