Hello, I'm working on a new PC on Windows XP SP3. Everything works fine when installing. After Widnows installation I have installed motherboard and video card drivers => everything ok I have work with the computer without problem. But when starting the computer again, RPC server hasn't start ! So the session is very slow to be opened, copy/paste doesn't work, spooler service and firewall doesn't work, and taskbar doesn't appears... So, I have repaired Windows. Everything works fine. To be sure, I have downloaded last drivers of motherboard and video card. Install OK and RPC was coming back ! But, then I have installed Office 2007, and this one…

Hi, I always found good help--and stern advice, so I thought I would bring this by you guys and see what happens. Now, I'm trying to figure out what happened exactly--if I installed something or what, but it seems whenever I play a video file or a music file, it requires a lot of CPU usuage. It always goes to 100%--and it kind of stays at 100%. Everytime. So when I'm watching a video, the video kinds of plays slowly, or it doesn't stream well. Hell, I can't even watch youtube, but it will load fine enough, but won't play clearly as it always has. Hi all, Here is my current configuration: Disk 0 - Basic 33.35GB - C:\ System Partition Disk 1 - Basic E:\ - File Shares - 150GB partition, 7GB free F:\ - Data - 200GB partition, 16GB free 57GB - unallocated I would like to extend E: using the 57GB unallocated space. How would I do this? If preferable I do not want to convert the disks into dynamic disks. TIA!

I have a strange problem. In my Control Panel, I have two listings of "Add or Remove Programs". One does nothing at all when opened, the other opens, but there NO programs listed. Also, If I try to use Windows Update, it never finds Windows Site, I have to ctrl, alt, del and end the program. I ran a virus scan (Norton with the newest defs), nothing. Everything else on the internet works. What can I do to correctthis problem? I was thinking of reloading XP, but then I'd have to go through all the service pack updates, etc. and I don't know if even that will fix the problem. Has anyone ever heard of this? If it matters, I'm using IE 6.0.

Hi! My Windows ME machine suddenly began posting this error message "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page". The computer will not boot up all the way, and I cannot use the Start button or access files. I googled the error message, and found a fix involving changing the registry key. To get to the registry, I opened the computer in Safe Mode, went to the MS-DOS prompt, and ran REGEDIT. Everything opened up fine, but I cannot open the HKEY_CURRENT_USER line in the registry - it gives me an error message. Running a Windows 2003 server and I'm running low on C drive space. So I've done the following 1. Repointed the spooler directory using print server properties -> Advanced -> D:\ blah blah 2. There are also two default shares print$ which point to C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers and prtprocs$ C:\WINDOWS\system32\prtprocs\w32x86. The print$ share as some 300 mb of files in it. 3. I copies the content of both folder to the D drive repoint the shares to the D drive and mirrored the share and NTFS permission. I did not delete the original location at this point. 4. There is another domain (domain2.local). Once a connection between us is complete, is there any way of making domain2.local a child domain in domain1.local? Kind Regards

Hi to all, i 've a qestion regarding the software installation policy. We have a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory domain, and XP Pro clients. On the clients the users owner of the pc is inserted in the local admin group, this because we have some procedures that does not work as normal user o power user.... Can we prevent this type of users to install software ? Or can we enable only a specific domain admin account (or group) to install software ? Thanks in advance Regards Luca

Due to a variety of software glitches and hardware issues I need to rebuild the first DC in my forest. By rebuild I mean format and reinstall the entire OS. There are 2 DCs in the forest (both 2003 Standard SP2). Each has DNS installed (AD integrated) and each has WINS. DHCP is running on the first DC. Both DCs are GCs. All FSMO roles are on this first DC at present. Exchange 2003 and SQL 2005 is running in the domain but on a different box - not sure if this is relevant. Running into a problem trying to copy files 150GB to 300GB from a Windows Storage Server 2003 SP2 to a server running Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 . The file will begin to copy and then I will get a message saying that, "Cannot copy filename: Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service." If I try to copy the file again, it appears to stop at the same place each time. If I go to the other server and attempt to copy from the storage server, then I get a message that there is no drive space on the storage server, yet there is plenty of space available.
