CDFS partition on Flash drive. . . 1 2
by Guest Tony Sperling- 27 replies
- 1.5k views
I recently bought one of these 4GB USB Flash Drives - it shows as a CD in my filemanager. It had loads of quite useless 'utilities' on it that I know I will never have any need for. I reformated the FAT32 drive as NTFS and removed the remaining CDFS partition, but when I boot the next morning that partition is automatically re-installed. Anybody know if I can delete such a partition? Partition Manager does not allow it - alternatively, can I delete it or take measures to have it not be re-installed like this? Tony. . .

Hello, I'm trying to have something similar to X-Windows CDE - where I can minimize a window with ALT-Right_Click, etc. Anyone know where keyboard shortcuts are defined and how they can be modified? I'd like to be able to launch the instant viewer with ALT-F1 and also move a window with ALT-Left. Also, ALT-Double_Click to maximize would be nice. Thanks, Ananth

TS, Outlook autoarchive won't go away
by Guest Len B- 4 replies

I'm not sure whether to ask here or in Outlook group so here goes. OL2k3 on a 2k3 TS. Error message: "The file ....\Outlook\archive.pst could not be found" [OK] This message usually pops up when initiating a new message. Clicking ok brings up the "Create/Open Personal Folders File" dialog to create/save archive.pst. However, the setting under Tools|Options, Other tab, Autoarchive button shows auto archive to be turned off. Is there anything else that could be causing this popup? It is driving the users mad. -- Len ______________________________________________________ remove nothing for valid email address.

Recently I had to re-install my OS;Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. I also installed SP3 after using the HP patch program for AMD processors before I installed anything else. After transferring some files back from my USB backup external hard drive, I noticed that the system ID was not the same as it was in the previous installation. (I had kept the old system ID number in a Word file.) I have a piece of software that uses the system ID,a serial number and a activation number to make sure it can only be installed on one computer. Is there a way I can change back to the old sysyem ID number, so I can get the software up an running again? BTW this is not th…

I keep deleting the account but it still keeps coming back! I have run my antivirus/spyware software which removed some infections but still it persists. Instability with 4gb ram?
by Guest Zootal- 13 replies

Has anyone noticed any instability with XP64 when 4GB of ram that goes away when using 2GB? I'm struggling with a random blue screen problem that seems to go away when I run with 2GB of ram - any 2GB. The actual error varies, and tends to be strange stuff like pfn_list_corrupt, etc., which usually points to hardware problems. So far it seems to work fine if I run with 2GB, and it doesn't seem to matter which memory sticks, or which slots they are in. This makes me wonder if my mobo just can't handle 4GB, or if there might be XP64 issues with that much memory?

The issue is in detail as explained it http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319440. In the CAUSE paragraph: "This behavior may occur if the client is unable to use opportunistic locking when the client is downloading the policy. " If opportunistic locking is disabled on the client end would this be the same as "The client is unable to use opportunistic locking?

knlwrap.exe
by Guest ggalv- 6 replies

My AVG Antivirus initially found this to be "Trojan Horse Dropper.Agent.JOC." and placed it in the valut. It was located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Engine\6\Intel 32\knlwrap.exe. It was in the vault for about 3 weeks, then finally I found out that it was a "false positive" and I restored the file to its original location from the AVG Vault. Do you guys/girls know what this file (knlwrap.exe) is for? Also, would having it in the vault for 3 weeks cause my computer or some software not to function properly? THANKS After I did the restore, the file is now in its original location. But the file is still in the Vaul…

This is to the person that had the same problem I did. IUSER_ADMIN profile kept recreating itself. It had to been a virus I went through system deleted files that were created when it happened. Went throught he registry and deledted entries that were created that day and was unfamiliar to me. Well it worked and its gone computer is running fine. Not to mention found viruses that nortons didnt completely remove. Took care of them as well manually. I cant tell you the one thing that worked, cause I did so many.
