ARTICLE> MICROSOFT: Learning from their STUPID VISTA MISTAKES!
by Guest leap frog vista- 16 replies

We all know that Vista is crap. Well not all of us realise this, only those of us who have a brain... MS, AT LAST realizes the many blunders it made with vista and is trying to correct them in Windows 7. Why are they doing this? Well because of fear. People hate vista and are turning towards other solutions. People hate vista and are making fun of it. People hate vista and are calling it the Me of NT. People know vista is slow and performs well enough only on 4 core machines with 2 gigs of ram or more. Totally ridiculous! Note: I posted this on the XP newsgroup for the XP users to warn them to WAIT until windows 7 is out. Don't throw away money on v…

Can't boot into Safe Mode
by Guest Sandy- 20 replies
- 1.3k views
Hi again Guys! Since my last post I've upgraded my mobo to an MSI and have 2x1 GB RAM modules installed. I quickly learned that Win98 grunts at anything over 1GB and ideally likes 512MB. However making an adjustment to the System.ini file as per MS KB article there's no problem with booting normally. However, if I wanted/had to boot into Safe Mode, then of course the startup files, presumably including the system.ini, are by-passed resulting in "not enough memory to initialize windows". Is there a work-around to this or have I lost this important bit of functionality? The only other alternative as I see it if something goes wrong is to then rely on S…

Using Registry Repair Tool To Fix Your Computer 1 2
by Guest jeremiah wright- 28 replies
- 2.2k views
Do you need a Windows registry repair tool for your PC, because you know that there are most probably errors in your computer? I remember looking for cleaner software when my PC started giving me all sorts of problems too. Having top notch software to optimize your computer's performance at all times is essential. 1. What Is The Windows Registry? It is one of the most important components in the entire system, yet many PC users have no idea about what it is! It is not hard to believe though, since we have never been taught about how to properly maintain our registries. All the computer's software, hardware and user profile settings are stored in the registry, m…

Checking for processes in Task Manager but nothing that spikes during the activity. The hard drive light goes practically solid during that time. Any thoughts? various windows xp problems after SP 3 update
by Guest PG- 3 replies

I have been having boot up problems, drives not showing up any longer, programs missing or files missing or not running errors. Intermittently I have bootup problems, then have to disconnect one SATA drive to get XP to load at all. I tried to install XP components again and it won't let me run setup. The CD-drive is reading since it opens the files but it won't run setup!? In addition, I had to do a system restore after I installed SP 3, so all of this started after the SP 3 was installed/updated. I also did a BIOS driver update thinking that might help with the bootup and HD not found problems, but it didn't help. I don't know what else to try or …

copy photo to cd
by Guest shaun- 6 replies

In "my pictures" when I click on "copy to cd" the cd writing wizard stars and tells me the process takes about 8-9 minutes. Near the end the last 2-3 minutes takes closer to 5 and then it kicks out my cd and tells me there is an "error in the writing process". I've tried numerous cd and cd-rws. I copied some photos once before so I know my drive is enabled. Am I missing something or do I have a bug? Thanks for any help.

Hello I'm wondering how forms and pictures can be included in an e-mail message itself (not as an attachment I mean). Sometimes I receive messages from Microsoft for example that have some pics and forms inside it, not as an attachment. How can I make messages like that using Windows Live Hotmail? How can I make those high quality messages instead of these traditional text-messages? Thanks -- Ragab

I am getting an error on startup after doing windows update. Never saw this before. The ordinal 49 could not be located in the dynamic link library MAPI32.dll Looking on the Web, it seems that if you run Fixmapi.exe, this should fix it. It doesn't on my machine. Doesn't seem to do anything - just goes right back to a command prompt. I have 3 Mapi files: MAPI32.000 that is 110KB MAPI32.DLL that is 145K MAPI.DLL that is 81K What happened here? How can I fix this? Thanks, Tom

Re: Identifying Motherboard's Make and Model This is a limping help. I had a problem with the OS or some sort of mismatch between the bios and something else. MS sent me a 'page' which told you how to find who the manufacturer of your motherboard is. It is simply putting a command (forgot) into the run. Try tracking it down at MS. Redirected Printer Disappears

One particular terminal server user on a Windows 2003 Terminal server uses printer redirection to map a local HP 1018 Laser Printer. This has been working for a year or so. Just recently the printer has been disappearing from the users profile. They are able to print to it and then it just suddenly disappears. Not sure if anybody else has run into this issue, but today I renewed my sub to Kas IS, but the link they provided to downlod the new version didn't work, so I called their tech number, some (obviously guy from india) told me, you have to uninstall the old version before you can download the new version, that to me sounded really stupid, I wasn't trying to install, just download, so I ignored him and sent of an e-mail, they sent me a different link where I got my application downloaded just fine, I also noticed they said uninstall the old one, but no utility to do so. I just ran the new version it installed just fine.

Time Zones

I travel extensively and use the Time Zone feature of Outlook 2007. Unfortunately, Windows XP's list of time zones is very limited when it comes to medium or small towns and some countries like Kazakhstan. I would like to be able to add entries to the Windows time zone list so I don't have to research which alternative offered by Windows is the correct one. Does anyone know of a way to do this?
