comprehensive list of UI and functional differences between Windows 7 Pro and Windows 10 Pro Hi, Does anyone know of a comprehensive list of UI and functional differences between Windows 7 Pro and Windows 10 Pro? We want to upgrade a bunch of computers to Windows 10 but perhaps provide a cheat sheet to users so that some functions are different or new options they need to be aware of or UI elements are different. I think this would lessen the support calls after the upgrade. Thanks, More...

Hi! So, I just got a new notebook with Windows 10. I'm coming from Windows 7. In previous system, W7 as mentioned, I had 309.000+ files indexed for a windows.edb size of 1,4 GB. I transferred nearly everything on the new machine and let the indexer run. The first time it indexed 280.000+ files for a stunning 60 GB (sixty gigabytes) of windows.edb. Decided to delete and rebuild, I deleted as many mails and files (a backup was already in place) as possible before re-indexing again. The second time it indexed 155.000+ files for a windows.edb size of 15 GB+. So I deleted more files and emails, in the meantime the Search Indexer decided to de…

Hello Forum, I recently purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad YOGA X1 3rd Gen. As far as hardware, she's fully loaded with the highest specs possible. Running Windows 10 Pro. Right off the bat it had a bunch of issues. I did a bunch of updates, most of them went away. I had to do some "regedit" for 1 problem where the keyboard would beep a bunch if I typed too quickly and it would set off hotkeys. Currently only 2 problems remain and if I can be rid of them I can be rid of my buyers remorse. Problem 1: File explorer opens on its own. Random. Multiple times. Can be hours between occurrences or minutes. Sometimes it will even go an entire session of work without doing it. …

Did I hear correctly that Windows 98 cannot handle memory more than 512 MB? If I'm wrong, what IS the maximum memory for Windows 98? And what happens when that "too much" limit has been exceeded?

Good Day: I have always used Windows 2000 so Windows XP is new to me. I was told not to be 'permanently' signed in as an Administrator unless I am performing a task. In 'User Acclounts,' It shows 2 accounts. I have set Administrator access to 'Password-protected' and and it shows the 'Guest' account is turned off. Is there a 'User' account or just those two? Which one do I want o be signed-in as or neither? How do I check which one I 'am' signed-in to? Thanks!

How do I clear a Stop 0x0000007E error ?
by Guest Bill Simard- 1 reply

I replaced my motherboard and I tried reinstalling my OS using the original CD. I copies the install file to the drive and reboots, then the splash screen appears, then I get Inaccessable_boot_device Stop 0x0000007E (0xC0000005) (0xBA9E8750) (0xBACCB42C) (0xBACCB128) What do I need to do to clear this. This is on a Compaq machine running XP pro. Usually doing a reinstall (upgrade) works to fix this, but not this time. I can get in using safe mode, so if anyone knows what files I need to delete or reg entries I need to delete to make this stop, that would be great. I'm guessing it is looking for the SCSI drive that is no loger there. I'm on an SA…

Outlook Express message??
by Guest Jo- 14 replies

My apologies if you see this post more than once, since I'm not quite sure which group to post it in, so I'll post it in a few that might be relevant. For the last 3 days or so, I've had a message window appear when I boot up Windows (XP SP3). It says "Outlook Express. To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages. This may take up to a few minutes." And then the OK or Cancel buttons. I have always clicked Cancel. Here's the weird thing -- I run Office Outlook (2003), NOT Outlook Express! I've never run Outlook Express -- not on this Windows installation anyway. Just in case this was an echo from Office Outlook, I compacted all my Outlook …
