hi, i am getting the following message when i start up windows xp professional: "please select the operating system to start." after about a couple of seconds this message disappears and my computer starts up. my question is what can i do to eliminate this message from appearing every time i start my computer? thanks dave

I can't ping my wife's PC from mine on our home network. My PC's IP address is 192.168.1.4, and my wife's is 192.168.1.3. Our Linksys router is 192.168.1.1, and is the gateway for both PC's I can't ping her PC from mine, and vice versa. I turned off her Windows firewall, and also her Avast virus protection (including flex firewall) and still can't ping one from the other. What else could be preventing me from being able to ping her PC? -Thanks

For some reason the clients in our domain are not synching the time with the domain controller - I presume should be default behaviour. They are out but only a few minutes but it is v annoying and sometimes causes people not to get their mapped drives. I would put a net time line into the login script but as most users are not admins on the local PCs they dont have access to change time under their account. The client firewalls are on and I included a port exception for 123 UDP. Should the clients update their time automatically with the DC automatically? Can someone explain a simple and straight forward solution? Thanks

Hi All, I've suddenley started having a problem when I'm browsing the internet. Its OK for a while and then when I search for a page, it will suddenley say 'Internet Explorer could not find page' so I can then use 'Diagnose Network Connection Problems' and it fixes the conncetion which lets me browse again, but not for long before it happens again. At the same time my Outlook Express will be unable to send or receive e-mails. This has only just started happening in last few weeks but its very annoying and is really slowing me down. couple of things: Windows server 2000 NIC tcp/ip protocol is assigned 4 different ip addresses? DHCP reserves these so as not to get assigned to clients I didn't set this up I can't really assign a host record (WWW) for the website: http://www.company.com because when i ping http://www.company.com OUTSIDE of the domain I just get the ip of the name server that's hosting the website. typing that ip address in an address bar resolves to a completly different website. I did assign a delegation to www that points to the nameserver. I tested by pinging http://www.company.com and it resolved the ip address of the name server. I pulled up http://www.com…

In IE7, select Tools, Internet Options. The Security level for this zone defaults to High and the slide bar is inactive no matter what I try. Is there a place to change this for the remote connection so the slide bar is active or change it to medium?

Attacked by spyware. My Computer shows only the G: from the printer's SD slot, plus the shared documents folders. How did the program remove them from the display? Can't run regedit and several control panel items as the "System Administrator" has prevented it. Is there a simple way to recover after removing the spyware? -- Doug

I am trying to install MOSS 2007 on a newly installed Windows Server 2003 R2 (I installed a fresh copy of the OS this morning and it is fully patched as of this afternoon.) I had several errors and then tried "winmgmt /clearadap" from a command line to correct them and got these event ID's (35 & 40). I lost my Windows XP Pro Reinstallation CD and I want to reinstall XP on my computer. I have the Product Key. How can I obtain a replacement XP CD?

Does anyone know how I can recover or reset the admin password in Windows XP Pro? This machine has three accounts, but the admin password is not known and I cannot do anything (like uninstall programs) without loggin in as Admin. Can anyone recommend a way iof finding out what the password is, or resetting it? I assume I need a boot CD that does this for me? Any suggestions? Thanks Jeff

A friend was asking what the options were for 64-bit supported TV Tuners, and I said I didn't know because I'm a happy TiVo user. But I'd ask here, since I know a few of you have an interest in this area. His options are basically USB or PCI - the only free PCI-e slot is blocked by the monster video card he bought for his son. We purchased W2K3 TS with 10 TS CALs in January 2006. Aren't these permanent and why would our registration expire? Hello! I have several HP T5530 thin clients, running Windows CE 5.0 which came preloaded with Thin Print. After reading documentation from HP I have attempted to configure the Thin Print service on the thin client to enable printing for applications running on a Windows 2003 server, via a RDP connection to the server. In the ThinPrint options I have manually added the TCP/IP details of the printer and it accepted them with no issues. However, when I am in the RDP connection and select print, no printers are listed. Is my server missing some software to pick up the ThinPrint settings on the thin client? My 6 yr old computer with Win Xp home edition crahed recently, I have restored it by running Repair from the disk that I have, and believe that came from the store I bought the computer from ?, now the computer boots up and the screen come up and is asking for a key numbers, where do I get the keys numbers from, I am not even sure that I have the receipt for this machine to go back to the store with. We have an open file sharing over our network in the office. There are lot of workgroups created that you can see when you go to the network places. We have our own workgroup created specifically for our department. (ex. xyz workgroup composing of 5 users) How can we set the file sharing that only us (xyz workgroup) can access? because we don't want other users see or access our data. Hi , In my windows 2003 R2 with SP2 server CSRSS.exe and system process (not system idle process) taking 100% CPU and lots of RAM all antivirus update done a spyware scan to no luck...any idea what cause the problem. I just drug out the old P3 800mhz Dell from the closet, hooked it up and it booted right up. :) Now, all I need to do is get everything cleaned up so my son can use it for some older DOS games and minimal Internet browsing. We have a Citrix server that until now was not a member of the domain. To overcome this there was a stored password setup under the Admin account, this provided access to the file server on the domain. I've now joined the Citrix server to the domain but i'm having authentication problems. It seems that the Citrix machine is still using the stored login, even tho I did remove that. I've tried disabling the Protected Storage Service, and deleting the reg keys, but that's had no effect. I have no idea where else to look, so any advice would be greatly received.
