IE6 is NOT working, why? 1 2
by Guest Robert A. Macy- 25 replies

Apologies ahead of time, but I need help on what should be a simple problem. I have four machines: 2 Win98 and 2 WinXP. All works to connect to my ISP, but the IE6 on one of the WinXP's, but then suddenly worked for one session, then quit again. It dials, makes connection, confirms me to my ISP, announces that the connection is made with a little balloon, but then stops and will not download the welcome page? The IE6 promptly sequences through everything until it's time to get the page, then...nothing, no data transfer, just an hour glass. I can't even activate the View Source. Have to stop IE, but then the 'can't show this page' screen is the same as …

I am using wbadmin to backup my Windows Server 2008 server using a scheduled task. Everything works great as far as the backup is concerned. I want to have the server attach the log file and email it to me when the backup is completed. Where is the backup log file? I can’t find it anywhere and I cannot find the answer on the net. So my question is, where is the backup log file? Thanks

Re: Large Hard Drives Twanny, http://biosagentplus.com/?PHPSESSID=pl3d2de210ir8mav7k8tr8e2s2 This place wants to sell you the whole chip (hard to repalce if soldered in for those that are not technicians) At any rate I got the binary from them with s/w that also installs and backups your old file. I had already used my own method to backup the file which I am glad I did. http://www.esupport.com I did the boot from floppy flash and my PC would no longer go into post. I had to unsolder my eprom, installed a socket, use the UV eprom eraser at my job and I manually put my old file back on in the prgrammer at work. http://www.esupport.com never did make t…

Synchronize not working
by Guest Ken G.- 0 replies

I've tried to set up file synchronizing between my desktop (XP pro) and my laptop (MCE) on a home wireless network. As far as I can see I've done it correctly and when I log on and log off and both computers are on it shows the sync window and says it was successful but when I check the folders on each computer new files haven't been added and existing ones are not updated. The same happens if I do a manual sync from either computer. What am I doing wrong?

Security policies for services in Win2003
by Guest Saga- 0 replies

Hi all, Yesterday I posted a question regarding a problem I have. I have an app that I am attempting to run as a service using srvany on a Win2003 PC with SP1. The service seems to start, but the app is no where to be seen. Through help from another group I also tried it with nssm with the same results. I now suspect that the app is not running as a service due to some security policy. Where can I look at this to find out for sure? Is there any documentation that I can read to delve deeper into this subject? Thanks! Saga --

Dear Friends, I'm wondering what it means when someone claim that a font is fully Unicode compatible or "This font supports Unicode"? Does it mean the font has glyph for all Unicode characters like ArialUni.TTF? I'm working with a series of Persian(Farsi) fonts and I'm getting very confused. Please Help me!! RE: ramdrive I was also interested in setting up a ramdrive. Not to increase the performance but to allow the hard drive to spin down and save power. I have a laptop with XP and want to just run one small application. Is there a way in Windows to create a ram drive, put that app on the ram drive and keep windows from accessing the hard drive so it can spin down? I see so many other ramdrive applications but it makes me nervous to install software from someone I don't know. If Microsoft had a solution that would be better. thank so much! -Peter

Print Migrator

Is there any support for this? I am trying to use version 3.1, and it is failing, I suspect it is because the cab file gets to large (I have over 300 printers). I know because after the cab is created, I can't mauanlly extract some files, while I can others. Not sure where to bring this up, in case there is a fix, or a feature for 3.2 Since it is not working, does anyone know how to backup or migrate printers? manually??

Hi, as written in Hauppauge WinTV HVR-4000 thread I have problems listening to tv and FM radio analog channels, audio is bad and jerky. I would like to check what software is involved in the audio processing, as the same problem does not happen with digital tv and radio channels. I see I can use gspot ffshow and a lot of codec- related tools fon my xp x64 but all seem oriented at multimedia avi- wav files, how can I analyze the the audio data stream from the pci board and drivers? Note that that board has no audio cable, all the video and audio data flows through pci and is filtered and decoded by software. I had a similar bad-audio experience when I insta…

When XP started I always say some icons in the system tray portion of the taskbar. Particularly Norton Ghost, Norton Internet Security and a couple of others. I no longer see these. The system tray is empty. I do not know what changed this. I am not absolving myself as it is possible I did something but I do not know what. My real concern is that these programs are not running. Is that possible? How do I correct this? Thanks for any and all advice.

I have installed Windows 2003 server on a new Dell 2900. This machine has a raid 5 config of 500 gig. I took the default c: partition size of 12 gig when I installed. This machine will be run Terminal server and also act as a file server. I have now realize with Program Files and Document and Settings folders on this partition we'll have immediate problem. I'm either going to have to resize the C: partition *or* reconfigure the system with these folders on a new drive. There isn't a lot of information on this subject available. How are the real world admins doing this? My gut reaction is to simply divide the array right in two 250 gig volumes, …

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion a820n, which has a mother board: Motherboard manufacturer's name: ASUS PTGD1-LA HP/Compaq name: Goldfish-GL8E OS: Windows XP home. CPU:3.20 GHz, Intel Pentium 4 HT processors Memory: 2.5 G I would like to replace the on-board video. The strang thing is that even though I set video to PCI from on-board, the on-board video output still has signal out. The video card, on the other hand, has not signal out. I had test that video card on other machine. BTW, I first uninstall the video display driver first before I change the BIOS setttings. Anyone can help me out? Thanks in advance

Hi, hoping this is in the right catagory, ok, when a program puts a shortcut on the desktop, if I go to delete it by right clicking or even just highlighting & hitting delete on the keyboard the computer just stops responding, get a message saying 'windows explorer has stopped working' & that it is trying to find a solution which it doesnt, just goes blank then comes back to desktop like its reloading. (if I put something on the desktop I can delete it, just seems to be shortcuts, even ones I have put on) hope you can understand what I am saying & that you are able to help. Thanks -- F.E.N.D
