Want to uninstall Adobe Reader 8.0 but Control Panel Add/Remove also shows "cannot uninstall" Adobe Reader Update.

Hi guys, I'm trying to use the remote desktop connection client in a computer and it says "The pre-release version of Remote Desktop Connection has expired. To download the full version of Remote Desktop Connection, go to Windows Update or contact your system administrator." But when I try to install WindowsXP-KB925876-x86-ENU.exe it syas that "Setup has detected that the Service Pack vesion of this system is newer than the update you are applying." So I'm stuck with this and I cannot make it work. My gues it this Windows has installed SP3... some release candidate (v.3264). Is there a way to force the client installation? Our organization provides internet access and allows clients to print for a fee. The network is set up similar to this: client---Print Server---Printers. the Cilent OS is Windows 2000 SP4, the Print Server is Windows XP Professional. Inorder to prevent the wasting of pages by users accidentally clicking the print button We would like to have an administrator control whether a print job actually goes to the printer. Is this possible? The print server is Windows XP Professional and there are two printers connected: 1. HP LaserJet 4000TN 2. HP color LaserJet 3500

Over the last 6 months or so I have had to format and reinstall Vista 64 wSP-1 a few times due to programs not responding and I am unable to track down the problem. I'm trying to run programs, they do open then pauses for 10 - 15 seconds when trying to close I get not responding then end process message and trying to end process nothing happens. I can not do anything even ctrl/alt/delete. If I wait awhile things come back to normal until it happens again. I have removed the AV software and is still the same, run chkdsk, virus & malware scans all come back as ok. Reading a few posts out there, people are saying it's a common problem. cheers

Windows 2008 terminal services When connecting to TS server thru remote app, printers don’t get redirected. If I connect directly thru RDP connection, then if I want to print, I’m able to see all my printers and printers on the server. If I use RemoteApp (when RDP pops-up to connect printers are selected), then I don’t see any printers at all. Any ideas?

Last week, I so cleverly set up extended desktop with a new shiny external monitor that they gave me at work (primary is my laptop screen). All was cool until now, I'm working at home with just my laptop, and I have an application that "remembers" it's supposed to be on the second window. Going into Control Panel -> Display settings and unchcking the "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" checkbox on the second monitor (which was the external monitor) does nothing. How can I get my app window back onto the laptop screen? TIA,

So, for my screensaver, I have "Use Picture in this Folder" as My Pictures. Unfortunately, this includes not only the pictures pointed to in the directory I specify (My Pictures), but also subfolders. Is there any way to have the screensaver not look inside subdirectories, or do I have to move any pictures I want displayed into a single directory without subdirectories? Also, where can I suggest to Microsoft that it should add the checkbox "include pictures in subdirectories" to the settings? Thanks

I have a Dell 600M laptop with WinXP Pro and with SP3. I can't get it to go to sleep. I think this problem started after installing SP3. Any ideas?

Everytime I shut down windows, I get a message "End Program f14". Also each time I do shut down, the "f14" changes to another hexadecimal number. The other issue that is occurring is with Cut/Paste, especially in Office 2007... it takes 1-15 seconds for the "Cut" to occur. Any suggestions?

I admit that everything was working and that -I- messed it up. To allow "My Documents" to be shared between two computers, I set one of the computers' (\\zm01) "My Documents" folder to be shared on the Workgroup. I then redefine the other computer's (\\zm02) "My Documents" target to the share name of the "My Documents" folder on \\zm01. It recently came to me that I may wat to restict access since a few people share this home network. So, I tried by disabling "simple sharing" and setting permissions, but realized that \\zm02\username could not be given permissions since a common domain doesn't exist. We have BartPE set up to run from the Windows Remote Installation Services PXE interface, but I am having trouble adding NIC drivers to the BartPE image. If I am correct, all NIC drivers should go in the "...\i386\system32\drivers\Net" folder. When I add drivers to that folder for some of our newer model PCs, BartPE still errors out saying that it cannot find an appropriate network adapter. Is there a different way to add NIC drivers after the image has been created? Thanks in advance.

I'm having a problem. I have a public and restriced folder on a share drive. Some one is moving the public folder into the restricted folder. Is there any way for me to prevent this folder from being moved, without taking away the modify permissions? -- Thanks v/r Braheem

Since installing security update 908531 on Win XP Pro a few days ago from windows update, I'm seeing some strange behavior. This update installs a new program, VERCLSID.EXE I've got SysInternals Process Explorer running, and occasionally I see VERCLSID.EXE start, then stop. It lasts about a second. The behavior is consistent when I visit Amazon.com. After being on a page for more than a minute, if I click a link on Amazon.com, as the new Amazon page loads, VERCLSID.EXE starts then stops. XP SP3 My computer has recently developed a problem where the folder list in Windows Explorer scrolls extremely slowly. Only two things have recently changed on my computer. 1) I replaced one of my two monitors with a larger model (I have the correct driver installed), and 2) I installed SP3. I seem to remember that there is an option somewhere that turns off scrolling, but I can't seem to find that option. I already cleared the "Scroll Programs" option in the Start Menu properties, and indeed this is not a problem with the Start Menu--it only happens in Windows Explorer. Sometimes when I wake up my computer from Standby and I'm looking at the Password Protect box, the text box that you enter your password in is completely missing. I mean the box is gone. I can still type in characters to enter my password to log on, but for some strange reason, the text box itself does not show. At first I thought it was due to an outdated video driver, but I just updated the driver and it still happens on occasion. Anyone know why this could be happening?

Hi there my question is. Can you use the files and settings transfer wizard to transfer files from one disk too another disk on the same computer. I had a system with a 40GB drive on it. I added a 500Gb dive. I made the 500gb drive the master and installed xp home on it then I made the 40gb drive the slave. i would like to transfer all the files, settings and programs from the 40gb drive to the 500gb drive. Hi I don't quit know how to explain my problem, but here goes :-) We/I use Server 2003 R2 and print management to manage the company printers. We deploy all printers through Print Management. As far as I can understand Print Management actually checks for printer changes at every login, if a printer has been removed from Print Management it removes it when the user logs in. Hi there I hope someone working on our helpdesk in the IT department that need to manage all the backups for regional offices. Some of the offices are small and only have one Windows 2003 server that will act as a DC/Fileserver/Exchange server. We use NTBackup for the smaller sites. I need to give this user access to manage the backups without giving him too much permission. He is a member of the account operators/backup operators and server operators. If he tries to manage media in the removable storage area in Device Manager we will just get an access denied. Hi. Email suddenly will not send through one of my provider's SMTP (AT&T - old Bellsouth). I know this sounds like an Outlook issue, but I have other programs that send email and they also cannot send. Outlook can receive from that provider, but not send. Luckily I have another provider on this machine (Earthlink), which uses a different SMTP, and it works fine. I can send using it. So it seems just the Bellsouth SMTP has issues, which seem to be outside Outlook's fault? Before I speak to Bellsouth about this, are there anythings I can check first in Windows or information about this elsewhere? I appreciate any help. WinXP -Mel

Two weeks ago my computer froze up. I powered down and repowered up. As Windows was loading it stopped and an error stated: Floppy diskette error: Press F1 to try again, F2 to reboot. This error pops up every time anything is tried. I have tried to repair and re install with my CD. After the long wait of Windows completely reinstalling, that error pops up. I just bought and replaced my hard drive thinking that may be the problem. After installing Windows XP Professional on my new hard drive that error popped up again. Is there anything anyone can offer that may help? Also, I do not have a floppy drive. Thank you.

Hi, [Windows 2003 Server Std, MS Exchange 2003 Server, CISCO firewall, IIS web server] We have a web server which serves as a file repository for our clients. They can click on a web link from our web pages to download the file (mostly PDF files). Our web server uses a different port (8081) than port 80. Some users complaint they could not download files from us. They said it was because we used non-standard port and their office firewall blocked the downloads. The reason why we use 8081 was because we have OWA, uses port 80, and wanted to separate it from web server. Is there any way for us to use port 80 for web server and OWA also? This question is not related to XP.....but I am hoping someone has an answer. For the past 2 days I have been trying to Signin to the Vista Newsgroup. When I click QUESTION, it correctly takes me to the Signin Window, after I enter the ID\Password it does back to the Newsgroup, but when I click QUESTION, it simply comes back to the Newsgroup and I see the SIGNIN tab....
