Remove x64

I installed x64 in the same partition as XP. DUH... I was told if I have an AMD x2 cpu I needed x64. I can dual boot and found that that I don't want x64. Can I just delete the x64 related folders and files and make my system a single boot sys again??? The other OS is WinXP. If I do a sys restore to a point prior to loading x64, will that remove the x64 OS? This is my first visit here. OOPS wrong site Hope I'm in the right place this time..nope, wrong site Maybe this is the correct place.....

Diskeeper Lite vs Disk Management
by Guest Word Painter- 3 replies

hello, i wanted to format and partition a new drive, but couldn't seem to find the disk admin panel anywhere (XP pro). MS' website said to run "compmgmt.msc" from the command line. oddly enough, this brings up an "install dialog", preparing to install Diskeeper Lite, which I already installed some time ago. I have to click many times to cancel the install process, and am considering nuking DK lite because of this headache and other screen nags, etc. my questions, how did DK lite "hijack" the Disk Managment console? can i get it back? any other place that I can run disk mgmt from rather than the arcane command prompt? thanks for any help ... …

I just installed finally Vista Ultimate 64. After several tries I did get it installed on a Tyan 2885 board with dual singlecore opterons to a raid 5 on a Highpoint 1820 card. I did a clean install with all other stuff removed even had to use a floppy to get vista to see raid 5 as c drive but that has been accomplished. After many tries. I had to remove all memory and start with one stick Corsair 3200 memory all are matche512 sticks. I have system running with 4 sticks 2 gigs, more it is funky, sorry about technical term. I did find 2 that would not work as a single stick. Others worked just fine. Now system works until I hit something that needs to chang…

Hello Anybody! Having nothing else to do :-) I tried to run the SFC /Scannow command on my wifes WinXPx64 PC. It didn't work. I got a msg. telling that I needed to insert the original install CD, (which was already in the DVD drive), and the process couldn't continue. I have been thinking of slipstreaming SP2 some day, and I thought that now was the right time to do it. I found a nice description, on how to perform the slipstream operation, here: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Create a Windows XP Professional x64 SP2 Slipstream CD http://www.start64.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&…

AVG 8 question
by Guest Don- 5 replies

Hey gang, I run AVG 8 , free version, on my Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I thought I would ask here first, in case anyone else has run across this. Recently, the update manager has stopped working in it, for me. When I boot, the icon will just have a red mark in it, and when I open the program from the notifcation area, it states the update manager is not working. I basically have to manually update the program each day. I have tried different settings under advanced-tools-update manager, but none seem to change this behaviour. Thought I would check here for ideas first, would appreciate any feedback on this. Thanks, -- Don

Migrating TS from 2003 to 2008
by Guest JEC- 2 replies

I have a client who currently has 2 servers in their organization. One is a SBS 2003 server that does all the jobs that SBS provides. The second server is a Server 2003 Std. box that is running Terminal Services and managing Terminal Server licensing. We have acquired a new Server 2008 box to replace the Terminal Server. I have purchased new 2008 TS user CALs for this server. My question is how to go about migrating Terminal Server Licensing from the 2003 server to the new 2008 server. If anyone can point me in the direction of some guidance on this subject, I would greatly appreciate it.

'Safely Remove Hardware' of flash drive disconnects my broadband
by Guest cuyocksol- 4 replies

From the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the taskbar I select to remove my USB flashdrive (Buffalo brand). I get the proper 'now safe' pop-up, but I then find that my broadband connection has also invariably been disconnected. (This is the other option in Safely Remove Hardware: "SpeedTouch USB ADSL PPP" - but I do not select it.) I then have to manually reconnect to the internet, and sometimes it won't even do this till after restart. (Windows XP home edition with SP3)

Can't start program at login for a particular
by Guest James Trogdon- 0 replies

I have a Windows 2003 R2 server that is running as a terminal server. I'm not running AD so I'm using the local user setup. I have my users setup on their Environment tab to "Start the following program at login". This works great for all users except one. The program doesn't run at all and he gets just the desktop. I even changed the program to run to c:\windows\notepad.exe as a test but it didn't even run that. Where can I look to find out what is stopping this user from running a program at login for the terminal server? Thanks for the help. James Trogdon

No IRQ for graphic card in Windows 95
by Guest Franc Zabkar- 14 replies

I have two 486/586 machines running Win95B. One has a Cirrus Logic VLB graphics card based on a CL-GD5428 chipset, the other has an S3 Trio V64+ PCI card. The latter card has a 2-pin interrupt header which I have jumpered, and I have also enabled "assign IRQ to VGA" in the BIOS setup. Neither machine assigns an IRQ to its graphics card. It appears that these cards are polled, much like standard (non-EPP/ECP) parallel printer ports which also don't get an IRQ in Device Manager. OTOH, my Win 98SE box does assign an IRQ to its PCI card (Diamond Stealth III S540). Is this normal behaviour? FWIW, both motherboards have UMC chipsets. - Franc Zabkar -- Please…
