by Guest Millie- 4 replies

Hi I've just spotted that another user account has appeared in my name in C:Documents and Settings. I didn't create this new account (I don't think). The one I created is labelled with just my first name. The second mysterious one has my first and last name listed. It doesn't appear in User Accounts in Control Panel. Does anyone know why this might have appeared and is it safe to delete it? -- Millie

Anyone able to view videos at NBCOlympics.com?
by Guest void.no.spam.com@gmail.com- 0 replies

Is anyone running Windows 2000 able to view the videos at NBCOlympics.com? I know they use Silverlight, and Silverlight 2.0 is supported under Windows 2000 as long as you use IE 6 SP1. I haven't installed Silverlight 2.0 yet, and when I go to NBCOlympics.com and try to pull up a video, a pop-up from NBC says that they only support XP and Vista. Wondering if anyone with W2K and Silverlight 2.0 can verify if they can view the live streaming or not.

Have a script that has been in service for a year or so. XP Pro. Was SP2. The script saves a file name and later uses it. To save the name I select the file, go to file-rename and hit control c, which copies to the clipboard. After installing SP3, this no longer works. Nothing is copied to the clip.

Script for logging onto network drive
by Guest Peter A- 1 reply

My home network includes a LaCie 500GB ethernet drive. All the computers successfully map the drive at boot, but the first time after a boot that any user tries to access the drive, they are required to enter the username and password for the drive. I am hoping that I can write a script to run at boot that will automatically perform this task. Is this possible? -- Peter Aitken Author, MS Word for Medical and Technical Writers http://www.tech-word.com

I am a bit confused by the kerberos help message. there is no web services on this server but I get Event Type: Error Event Source: Kerberos Event Category: None Event ID: 4 Date: 2008-08-07 Time: 07:53:35 User: N/A Computer: mysvr01 Description: The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server host/mysvr01.mydomain.local. The target name used was LDAP/fbce4a49-6f53-42dc-b997-322b82a349e0._msdcs.mydomain.local. This indicates that the password used to encrypt the kerberos service ticket is different than that on the target server. Commonly, this is due to identically named machine accounts in the target realm (mydomain.…

It is the exchange sever, file share server, and the internet dns/ gateway. Thanks for your help.

Getting quite a few WMI errors . I did not check to see if these errors were present before the upgrade, but I did look after upgrading the server to 4GB of RAM. The /PAE switch is in the boot.ini, but seems to make no difference whether or not that switch is present. Some samples of errors are... How to set "The following user" as the default option in Run As di
by Guest yaugenka- 0 replies
Hi, To start a program with other user credentials you can right click on the program file or its shortcut and choose Run As command. You will be prompted with a dialog box that has two options: Current user and The following user. By default the first option is set. The fact is that in almost all cases you run this dialog to launch a program or tool with other user credentials. So you first have to click "The following user" option, and only after that you will be able enter the creds. Above all when you choose the second option the System administrator name will be chosen by default. Is it possible to set "The following user" as the default option…

Most services does not start
by Guest Ola- 5 replies

This problem occured the first time first of august. I belive it was after automatic updates. When starting the server the following message pops up: "At least one driver or service failed to start during system startup." When looking in Services most of the automatic services are stopped. It is not possible to start them. After some searching I found this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956189 Thought that was the problem.. But it does not work after reserving ports and uninstalling updates. Its also recommended to reinstall SP2, but it seams I can not do that since the "cryptographic service" is stopped. Any advice?
