Hi, Friends, I need your guys' help urgently. I am still using Window 98 for my Pen III desktop. Yesterday I misktakenly deleted the system files ( I am not good at computer). These deleted files are in the recycle bin because I did not empty the recycle bin. When I restarted the computer, the only information in the screen is :"invalid system disk. Please replace the system disk, then press any key to start...". Can not get into safe mode. Does not response to any keys or F1-F12, or alt+ctrl+del". I do have a Recovery CD when I bought the computer almost 9 years ago. The options are: Diskette backup, user backup, user restore and factory restore. …

When I click on the start menu and go to all programs I used to be able to right click on a program and select Pin to Start Menu from the pop up menu. Now when I do this nothing happens. No pop up appears. I have Windows XP SP 2. I use Mozilla Firefox 5.0 browser. Also Verizon Yahoo Norton online protection 2006 which is a service provided by them. Can anyone help? My system restore will not restore my my computer to any restore point. I have tried several. I use Verizon Yahoo Online Protection 2006 provided as a free service by them. I turned it off but the result was the same. Can anyone help? Thanks, Thinman007

I have a copy of my XP MediaCentre installation discs on a USB drive. I can boot from the drive and install XP. I'd like to include my SATA drivers on the stick so Windows will automatically use them during setup. Where can I copy the driver files into the Windows install disc file tree?

I just fixed a bad virus problem and now all is well. But my time is in "military time" - is says 16:31 instead of 4:31... Fix? Thanks -- Roger

I need to download updates and new software and my system now gives me a message that the "Windows Installer is missing" error and I should contact my system administrator. When you don't have a sysytem administrator how do you fix this problem. I have been looking for the installer for my x64 system and it takes me to the X64 server installer instead. What do I need to do here. Anybody have any ideas??

I have Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.3.5.10v. This has worked perfectly until now! I just installed SP3, and now I get this error message: Easy CD Creator Engine initialization has failed: (could not load CDR4) Anyone else having this problem???

I want to allocate more disk space for checkpoints. I do not want any existing checkpoints deleted. I do not have Administrative privileges. Microsoft Help says the first step is to open "System Properties." How can I open System Properties?

I tried IE8 and have nothing but problems. When I try to uninstall it, it automatically restarts. Right now, it is active but does not appear in the ADD/REMOVE programs list. I try to install IE7 and it will not install because IE8 is there. How do I manually remove IE8 so I can reinstall 7. I could not reach the newsgroups or discussions because IE 8 blocks them, I am using Firefox. Thank You

I have checked the MS site and it performs the usual inspection of my Win XP for updates, then shows that I should download SP3 and indicates that I cannot get any more updates until SP3 is installed. Is this correct please? I am not too enthusiastic about installing SP3 in case it gives my desktop indigestion, although I have a MS CD of SP3 standing by! Advice would be helpful please. brett

One of my relatives has a laptop with an XP MCE2005 Key. Long story short, he installed crap that made it BSOD concistently so I decided to recover. Recovery procedure worked but system wasn't stable at all. I got an MSDN subscription at work so I reinstalled with a CD from it, hopping to use his key. It didn't work (invalid key) so I figured its not the same flavor of XP MCE2005 (oem vs retail?). Anyways I used my MSDN key to see if the system would be stable. It is. I have a new Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with a fresh XP SP3 install, and I'm having a terrible problem with fuzzy screen fonts on the laptop LCD. I have read through all the discussion postings and tried everything: - Enabling ClearType and tuning it both with the power toy and web interface. Turns out having ClearType disabled looks better but still not great. - Using the Advanced tab of My Computer Properties and trying both checked and unchecked "Smooth Edges of Screen Fonts". Again, unchecked looks better but not great. - Trying both on and off for ClearType in IE7 and Office 2007 - again, off seems to look better. - Making sure I am ru…
