I have recently taken over support of a client with the following scenario: 1 x SBS2003 box running PDC, Exchange & SQL 1 x Server 2003 Std box running Terminal Services to 6 users The customer has an open licence for all the software including 6 USER TS CALs On replacing a Thin Client, I am informed that I cannot connect to RDP as there are no licences available. Is it possible to uninstal SP3 and return to SP2? After installing service pack 3 I'm getting the above error with the following information: szAppName:svchost.exe szAppVer 5.1.2600.5512 SzModname:rpcess.dll I have run spybot, adware, ccleaner, a2squared, avg virus protection, pctoos spyware. Most of these have also run in safe mode. My computer is clean to the best of my knowledge. The error happens after the notebook comes out of hibernation. I then have about a minute to close programs and the computer reboots. Can you suggest anything? I've looked in MS website for issues and haven't had any success to date. Lanny

I have been experiencing problems with XP SP3 and ActiveSync 4.5, in as much as a windows mobile 5 or 6 device can no longer reliably connect & re-connect via USB & use ActiveSync to synchronise. Both PC & mobile device often require a complete restart or uninstalling and reinstalling everything before functionality returns. After this it stops working again after the device has been disconnected for the is first or second time and the whole process has to be done again before a connection can be established. I just got the new eee pc 901, great little thing. Comes with 12GB of SSD storage, with XP. The problem is that the 12GB is on two different SSD, the main one or C: is only 4GB(!!!) and the secondary one or D: is 8GB. I want to make only the most important programs and data go/file to that C: drive and I need to move all of "My Documents" to the D: drive so that I have space on C: for all of the updates and necessary files for function. It won't let me do it though... If I try to move "Documents and Settings" from C: to D:, it tells me that this folder is necessary for critical function and cannot be moved... I've recently installed win XP 64-bit , and I've noticed that one cannot edit a mp3 file information in it , (when u right click on the file and click on properties)there isn't stuff like artist, composer , lyrics , etc. U can just find track number , title and comments , and when I try to edit those , I recieve this error : a disk error occured during a write operation And also when u put view mode to details in a music folders , informations r not shown as if there isn't any. If u search a bit on the net u'll find that everyone gots the same problem with 64-bit xp. It's very annoying , I wonder if there is any solutions for it. thx ;)

I have 10 logical partitions, C - L. When I click on My Computer I get all the partitions listed in the right column with their size and free space. I had installed a version of "Print Directory Listing" that would print the right column exactly as it appeared on the screen when I did a right click, or maybe it was when I clicked on File. Now for some reason it no longer works. How can I get it to work again? I don't want to print the directories, only the partitions with their sizes and free space. Bob Speck

Hi Everybody, I have a server running on Server2008. Unfortunately, I have experienced problems that I suspect to be related to a Promise Supertrac 8350 controller. Thus, I have made a backup of both partitions with WindowsServerBackup (built-in) and tried to restore the backup on a single disk attached to another controller. The physical disk is smaller than the former array, but my partitions are together smaller than the disk size of the new HD. Even though the restore utility tells me that the target disk is too small for the partitions. What can I do? Thanks for your time Ole

I need some quick help regarding licensing on my new Windows 2003 Server. New machine from Dell. I purchased with 15 additional CALS (user) licenses. I don't think they are installed by Dell but not sure. I am going to use this machine as a standalone server/not a DC ie in Workgroup mode. I have the certificates and I selected "user/device" when prompted during setup. When I click on Licensing, I get "The License Logging Service is not running ..." Any help on making sure that I have all of the licenses are active. Thanks in advance!

I am a newbie with the MS backup utility provided with W2003 and yes I will get a better backup product but I need to backup the system now. OK so I did 2 full system backups yesterday to an external USB HD (26GB data on the server) but my floppy was not working so nothing was written to diskette. I installed a new floppy today, started backup, and backup now thinks it needs to back up 78GB. I think the problem is that the USB Ext HD is seen as a 'Local Disk (G:)' and so Backup is trying to backup C+G to G. When I connected the Ext HD today Disk Management knew nothing about the 52GB already on the Ext HD. I read in a W2003 book that a Media Pool h…
