Hello, I am in the process of setting up a new Terminal Services server. Currently we use 2003 Server with TS installed on a backup server. I have the new server in and was wondering if it would be better to just install Windows 2008 and use the new Terminal services? Currently, 2003 TS has been working well but are limited to printing to a local usb printer. We have one user that was successful in printing to his USB 1022 HP printer. This printer is no longer manufactured so it seems I am running to a dead end on getting local printers to work. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Attempted to copy files/pics from c:\my docs, to cd readable drive. message received: access denied see system administrator. I am administrator. How do i correct this ? Could be possible virus ? Also have gotten internet explorer errors. possible connection ? Thanks. -- CR

on the D: which is on a Dell SAN sometimes it went up to 200+. may or may not come down quickly. I thought it shouldn't be more than 80. But the avg. disk queue length is lower than 1 or 2 x spindles. Can someone provide a little more how to interprete this counter? Thanks.

Ok I have seen an issue with XP on many computers have yet to find a fix. Problem is when you open task manager it closes after a few trys to will stay open. Cmd, regedit all work computer is virus free. Any ideas?

Hi! 30 Jul I have a Windows XP hard disk with NTFS compression enabled. I now understand that the compression is at the cost of performance, which I cannot afford. Can I disable compression on a drive that had NTFS compression enabled? Or will I end up with junk? A removable hard drive enclosure went kaput. The drive inside, 200GB WD, I kept. Installed into a removable enclosure that fits into the bay of the PC. This connected to a Promise UltraTX controller card. Wiped the 2 FAT32 partitions, and made 2 NTFS partitions in XP using disk manager. I use system commander for a boot manager. I forgot that it would automatically hide new primary partitions found from any OS I boot from. Upon the first reboot, found that windows explorer could not find the new NTFS partitions. So, in disk management, I added them. I rebooted again. Same results, even though they were added previously. At that point, I remembe…

My laptop has XP pro with SP3. In use, after a short time (5 mins to 30 mins), either sitting idle with no programs running or engaged in activity (eg. word processing), the mouse freezes. Everything else is working OK and I can navigate to other programs and save documents etc with the keyboard, but the only solution I can find is to shut down and restart. I have tried other mice all with the same result. I have replaced the i8067prt and mouclas system files copied from my desktop machine without effect.

Hi all, I have 5 terminal servers in "workgroup" mode (not joined in a domain), two was upgraded from win2000srv to win2003std. The servers work correctly, but running tsadmin.exe on 4 of them while trying to connect to the last one (it's one of the two upgraded) it gives a strange error "Authentication error, impossible to connect" (the message colud be a little different, I traslated it from italian). I get same error tring to connect from windowsXP client running "\ \ts_not_working\c$\windows\system32\tsadmin.exe" with the right adminstrator credentials. Greetings!!! I had a problem with my dvd writer. I was not able to access. Then while googling, i found a solution that deleting few registry entries upperfilters and lowerfilters will solve the problem. but, when i delete entries and restart, my keyoard and mouse stopped working. Now finding solution for that, i found one reg file, if i will restore that, things should work proper. But, as i have login password, and my keyboard doesnt work, I am unable to login. so my question is there anyway whereby i can bypass that login screen and install that reg file. is there a way to start computer from cd into a 32 bit console loaded into ram? (the prompt you get from -xp safe mode with command prompt option) xp CD recovery console does that but then one cannot acess (not even open cdrom door) a different CD and it would be convenient to run a 32 bit command line AV scanner off that CD to check an infected hdd

I downloaded a program called exiftool that gives me all sorts of info on JPGs - basically it reads off the exif data in the jpeg header. Where can I put this file so that whatever cmd prompt I'm at it will execute? Since I move around alot in directories I don't want to have a copy of this file in each dir.

hello, windows 2000, XP and vista use performance counters if you don't need them you can disable them either with registry-entries or with a small program calles exctrlst.exe and this works the entires in the eventviewer, reflecting the start of the counters are no longer there on my pc all counters are stopped however on my laptop, one counters remains active, i.e. WmiApRpl I can disable them, but after the next boot, this one simply is back any suggestions ?? thnks

Hi Guy's I got this error, whe I trying to connecting is some of our workstation . \\computername\admin$ is not accessible. you ight have no permission to use this networl resources. I used the Domain Admin account to access their resources and when I checked the admin$ / IPC$ is enabled but I'm still getting the same problem. I have installed Win2k3 Standard sp2 with terminal server. I want to restrict some users to use only a certain application and not all the installed apps and server resources. I have achieved this by simple adding the program executable name and his path on Terminl server Configuration > Connections > Rdp-Tcp > Environment > "Start this program at logon" When I start the rdp session, the user can see only the specified app, whit no desktop icons, app bar, right mouse click works only on the started application, but I have discovered that if I use the application "Open" option, I can browse the server/network file system and even delete files…

I have a laptop with XP connected to a printer. I have just bought a Vista PC. Both are wireless. TheXP laptop is configured for file and printer sharing. If I open Network in the Vista PC it shows the laptop. If I double click on the laptop I get a box asking for a user name and password. The XP laptop has no password that I know of. Hi, Right, I have installed TS Server (+ licencing) on a Windows Server 2003 SE box. It all works brilliantly apart from the fact that it always has to do a mini install when you open up the first Office 2003 application of the session. This is not my major concern, but if someone has an answer...
