Laptop does not know if it is on or off the network
by Guest Jordan- 2 replies

I have a couple of laptops that have a problem with certain features like roaming profiles and syncronization where they do not seem to know when they are off the network. Sometimes when starting up at home or elsewhere a couple of laptops will give the users an error that it cannot find their roaming profile. Also a lot of the time when they shut down syncronization will not be able to run (of course) and shutdown just sits at the file syncronization screen with the failure message forcing the users to press OK. All computers are XP Pro SP2 and all patches up to a month or two ago. Server that holds the roaming profiles and the files that the user is…

Can I virtualize my TS Gateway server?
by Guest googlegroups@trailer.net- 4 replies
- 254 views
I'm wondering if "security-wise" it would okay to create my TS Gateway server as a virtual server under Hyper-V, along with all of my other VMs? I could give it its own dedicated NIC if that would help matters, as the host server has 6 NICs. Our Checkpoint FW should handle all the filtering necessary... Thanks, Mike

I have a problem which is really annoying. My screen keeps freezing up, I can 'unfreeze' it by opening task manager, closing task manager with 2 clicks of the 'x', this is because the first clcik is still part of the freeze and doesnt close it. after ths my scren is ok for a while then it freezes up again. Its been like this for ages now and I have asked before but never got a good answer. I have tried just about every malware program. ewido, hitman pro and also I have AVG installed but never cured it. any suggestions. est regards

Copy Profile Junction Points
by Guest Chris M- 0 replies

Hi all, (I've asked this in the Vista group too, but forgot to cross-post here, sorry) I'm trying to copy a user profile to a different location in Windows Server 2008 and I can't get the junction points to copy (access denied, obviously). I would have thought that the 'copy to' function in the profile list in System Properties would be aware of the need to copy the junction points - but alas it seems that it isn't, basically making the function fairly useless. Does anyone know how to correctly copy a user profile in Server 2008, creating the correct junction points in the destination? Cheers, -- Chris M. Remove pants to email me.

In Exchange Server there is a tool for managing public folders called PFDAVAdmin that replicates a chosen permission thruought a folder tree, I wonder if there is something similar for folder in Windows 2003/2008. Hi guys, for some strange reason Windows Management and help center seem to pop up at random times for no reason at all. Tried running SR, but it didn't help. When giving the three finger solute, it shows Windows Management with the vowels in management and Help Center with the vowels missing in center. How do I stop this from happening?

Windows 2003 Standard incoming email
by Guest Jamie- 2 replies

I have a Windows 2003 standard server that runs our internal company program. The program is configured to use the servers email system. There is not exchange on the server just smtp for sending and I'm not sure what is configured for receiving. I have talked with support for the program and they informed me that you just point the mx record to the ip of the server and it will receive email. This doesn't make any sense to me. How does it route to email boxes and such? I thought maybe it was a pop service but I checked add/remove programs and pop is not installed either. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Can anyone tell me a command-line command that would actually invoke a legitimate BSOD, without causing any permanent damage? I'll take either variety of: 1) being able to get rid of it with a keystroke, or 2) locking the system up, requiring reboot. TIA

I have obviously done something worng or incompletely, judging by all the reports of how easy TSWA is to set up. Any help is appreciated... I have a TS Gateway which also is to serve as TSWA front-end. I have a TS NLB farm of two nodes running 2008 EE TSwhich have an identical list (1 application now, for simplicity/troubleshooting sake) of RemoteApp Applications. They are set to use the TS GW. The GW is added to the TS Web Access Computers security group on both nodes of the NLB TS Farm. When I go to the TSWA Administration pages and try to set the "Terminal Server Name" in the web part editor zone, I get the following error: "TS Web Access was not ab…

My brother cannot install the above on his HP slimline. All updates are current. Here is the timeline that he provided for me: Service Pack 3 Setup Error (the heading in the box) Access is Denied (after you click on this you get the message below) Service Pack 3 Installation Did Not Complete (after you click on this you get the message below) Select 'Ok" to undo the changes that have been made Then you restart the computer and you are back to SP2 and all seems to work fine. Any ideas from the group or should I just have him Google for help? Thanks, Steve T.

No "Repair" option when booting?
by Guest +Bob+- 2 replies

I am trying to do a repair install. When I boot from the CD, I don't get a repair or recovery option, it does "Setup is inspecting" and then goes into a fresh build sequence (loads drivers, asks me to select a partition). The CD is SP2, and I know the install is SP3. I know that means I should do a slipstream. However, previous to that I wanted to see the repair option at least appear... and it doesn't. Thoughts?

I have XP with all service packs. My system crashed and I rebooted but lost all USB ports including PCI card. ALso internet access is gone. I think that I may have picked up a flash file that trashed my system. I ran system restore and that didn't help. ALso current Trend Micro software didn't detect anything. Anybody hear of flash files with this capability? Any way to get rid of them, even if you don't know where to look? Thanks

Ipsec and triple des
by Guest mmark751969- 0 replies

If i have a win2k3 server at one site and another win2k3 server at another site and i establish triple des on both and enable L2tp over Ipsec on both servers. And the Server(request security) on one server and the Secure Server(require security) option on the other. Then would the tunnel that would be established between both servers be up on demand(only when traffic is intiated between the two). Or would the tunnel be up permanently(as if i set up an ipsec tunnel between both firewalls at the different sites). Thanks
