Since I used my restore disk and reinstalled everything, my background is just a gray screen. I have the updated video driver installed. Now when I go to Desktop Properites I can see the correct picture on the little monitor but still not on the desktop. I was told that there might be a program that is blocking the background from showing on the desktop and that there also might be a program that will disable the problem and fix my background. Im also using Win XP with SP 3 Can anyone help???

I want all my envelope addresses to be Times New Roman just as my writing is, but whenever I click to print an envelope I see Ariel. I have to laboriously change both the sending and return address using the options bar, then do it again for the next envelope. Naturally, I tried the format font tool on the menu bar, choosing Times New Roman and making it my default. But it doesn't work. What can I do?

Just got a new usb 4g SanDisk Cruzer jump drive. Plugged into my desktop and it worked fine. Copied files to and from. Plugged into my laptop and Windows XP SP3 sees the new drive being installed in the tray but when I go to "My Computer" the system doesn't give me a drive icon. I can go to "CMD" prompt and change to f: and type"dir" and it sees the drive in DOS. What gives??

When I surf the internet, my Web browser, Internet Explorer 7 or Opera 9.6, occasionally bombs. Only my Web browser hangs, not the entire system that crashes. I try several times to kill the process of the hanged Web browser but futile. So I have to reboot my computer system by pressing power "on/off" button. I want to find files in a directory that contain the string 'syscolumns'. I know for a fact that several ordinary ASCII text files (extension .SQL) contain that string. They're not hidden or system files. I load up Search and in the 'A word or phrase in the file' edit box I enter syscolumns. My other options: 'All or Part of the File Name' is blank When Was It Modified = Don't Remember What Size Is It = Don't Remember Under 'More Advanced Options', everything is unchecked I click Search and it doesn't find any files. Running MS Win Server 2003 R2 Std. I have a couple of programs (.exe) that I need running to import/export data between our ERP and another application. When I start these two programs running from the console but then come in remotely (RDC) and log in with same ID/password, do not see them running. Of course, if I start them up remotely, then they conflict with each other and crash. Vendor and I have agreeded to start/stop them while logged in remote with same ID/password and disconnect remote session (not log off). For some reason, PAINT is the program that is trying to open all my WORD programs in my documents. Dont know how this has happened but message comes up that I can't open these files with Bitmap. Paint has obviously become my default file opener in my documents. Any idea how I can reverse this? I can press OPEN WITH word every time I click on a folder - but its a bit monotonous! I copied virtual disk (.vhd) to another location and crated new Virtual machine and connected it to the copied disk. The vhd had Windows 2003 installed and after the start of new machine I got Local area connection 3. The original vhd had Static IP number and it had local area connection. Hot change it? We have 3 file servers running windows 2003 and 2008 on HP proliant servers. We need more disks in arrays. We have been using so far RAID 0+1. Is it possible to add extra disk to RAID 0+1 array and extend the size of the existing logical drive? Or we need to change to RAID 5 level. We have know two RAID 0+1 arrays: One array: 500 GB SATA disk 500 GB SATA disk Second Arrays: 1TB SATA disk 1TB SATA disk Can we add 4 1TB disks (2 to each array) and extend the logical drive size? Hi, we have serious issue with the new feature "Easy Print" in 2008 server. The problem is that the physical margins of the local/client printers are not carried over to the easy print driver on the TS. This is not a big issue with all software that has a proper page setup dialogue with settings for all 4 margins. The problem arises with software that depends on the physical margins set in the print driver to place the print correctly. Is there any settings for this? Like "Use physical margins from printer driver", somewhere in registry perhaps, or in a settings file. I have spent a few days trying to make this work and I'm running out of ideas... Mayb…

Hi I have windows server 2003, the clients are Win XP - all are updated. The disks are mapped using "net use ..." in a bat file. Sometimes the win xp client don't have any driveletters to the mapped disks afther a logon and can't start apps on the shared disks. I am trying to connect from a Windows XP SP3 workstation to a Windows Server 2003 SP2 server using Remote Desktop Connection client. I have version 6.0.6001 on the XP workstation. On connection, I receive the following error: "This computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact the owner of the remote computer or your network administrator." After receiving the message, we logon to the server from the console and run a netstat and see that 3389 is not listening. Just replaced the cmos battery, but still get this message, (and the clock/date still doesn't work properly, I really need it to). "Calendar can't find one or more of the files it needs to run. Run the calendar set up program again to install the missing files..." my problem: I don't have any discs with the laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro 430CDT (PA1230U-T2C). It runs WIn98 (don't have that disk either). The laptop also doesn't have internet. I would download something on my good laptop to CD, then run it on the TOshiba. I am getting a DDE Server Window:iexplore.exe - Application Error when I close out Internet Explorer. It reads The instruction at "0x77555d00" referenced memory at "0x0e2646a0". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program. I click on OK and it just goes away. It doesn't seem to be all the time, but often enough that it is annoying. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is?
