We have installed a four port modem in our Windows Server 2003 Domain Controller. This server is also used for file/print sharing. The goal was to have four printers that connect to each of the four ports on the modem so that users can decide what the outgoing number/line will be and print to the respective one. After installing the modem I can see all of the ports configured under fax services, but I can't seem to figure out how to make multiple fax printers. Is this possible? Thanks!

With Win XP.....on hard drive backups.....does the boot disk the backup program makes allow you to get to and recover from the files on a USB hard drive, when the master disk goes sourth?

I want to hude a couple of entries in Add/Remove programs in XP Pro... Is it possible? And how...? I just want to stop a couple of programs from being uninstalled. Thanks a lot

My keyboard has suddenly stopped working. I'm trying to figure out why. One possibility, of course, is that it's broken. But before concluding that, I'd like to explore other possibilities. And one of those other possibilities is that the most recent Windows XP Pro update, just installed this morning (with security updates, malware tool installation, etc.), somehow "broke" it. Hi All, I’m tying to find a good package to manage PXE installs of Windows 2K3 systems on multiple hardware platforms. I used a package a couple of years ago that allowed for multiple driver packages and options for scripted installs, but I can’t seem to remember what the name of the package was. The plan is to set up something simple enough that the junior admins can rapidly build out servers that come will out consistent, and do it without adult supervision. (You’re basic DUH mode) Has anyone had any experience in this area? Thanks Dan H

In WinXP I can setup/change under System->Advanced->Environment Variables the PATH variable in two ways: By changing the entry under "user variables" and under "system variables". Until now I thought that the "User variables" settings have priority over the system variables. So the sequence of PATHs I expected was PATH=%PATH%(from user variable;%PATH%(from system variable) But as I had to notice this is NOT the case! When I type "set" at the command prompt then the system variable PATH come BEFORE user variable PATH. Is there a way to change the sequence? Sabine

Hi all, I have had terminal servr running for over 2 years, and all of a sudden, 2 of my HP 2600n's stopped working. when printing from remote, it sends it to the client, but stays in the client's spool and wont print. then, if i need to print locally again, i sometimes have to stop and restart the spooler service, so i can delete the print job. very wierd. anyone got any ideas???? thanks! gh

Windows Defender suddenly put an Icon near the Clock. It had an exclamation mark. It asked to upgrade, but there were no upgrades. (It seemed to happen when there was an automatic Update for Windows) I turned Defender off to see if it would go away. Now I cannot find where to turn it back on to see if the exclamation went away. looked in Ctrl Panel , Security and Firewall. Can you believe the Help Index does not have Defender listed!?

Running fully patched, up to date, virus-proof and adware-proof, etc., Windows XP SP3, Office 2007. Often DDE-enabled file types open slowly. For example, if http links are set to open with DDE, it might take 5-10 seconds for the link to appear in the browser; if DDE is disabled, it opens instantly. The machine has plenty of resources: Thinkpad x61; Dual core 2.0 GHz CPU; 4 GB RAM; relative recent fresh installation; no extra services etc.. I am not really sure where to go with this. I am currently at a loss. I am trying to optimize communications between our iSCSI SAN and Windows Server 2003 boxes. Right now I am doing test copies between two Server boxes but the issue exists when I copy between a host and the SAN. Basically my servers are transmitting packets with a maximum size of 61K. My test switch can only handle 1.5K. We are going to be using jumbo packets but the 61K is still over the amount that switch can handle. Now I do not experience this on file transfers between Windows Vista boxes. Can someone tell me if this is normal? Let me know if you need clarification. -- bry…

After a recent problem with my computer, I think (from some informative replies) that some of my problem came from using Ad-Aware incorrectly. I thought the program automatically quarantined critical files before deleting, but that's apparently not true. Is that correct? Also, if it finds critical objects whose files begin win WIN, does that automatically mean they're system files? If I quarantine instead of delete these files, will it solve the problems they've created? Or can Ad-Aware actually clean up these files? Thanks for any information! :)

I'm trying to help a friend here. When her computer starts up, the desktop background shows, the taskbar shows and the quick launch bar shows. However, NO icons appear on the desktop at all (not even My Computer or Recycle Bin). There are no viruses or spyware present. I am not a novice, but I cannot figure this one out. I installed a bigger hard drive on my kids computer, Reinstalled Windows XP Home Worked great, got inernet working fine, So I decided I should update the service pack 2. After downloading SP2 & installing it the computer said it needed to restart. Now the moniter screen is totally blank. Is there someway to restore the computer to before I loaded the service pack 2 without using a screen? Or is there something else I can do? Thank you

I'll begin by noting that this seems like a Windows problem rather than a WordPerfect problem, since a complete uninstall/reinstall of WordPerfect with Registry scrubbing and manual deletion of program file locations (in Program Files and <user profile>\Application Data) did not solve the problem. I receive my Vonage phone messages as .wav files which worked fine and I could open until about a month ago and the problem has not gone away. I have the wav files associated with Windows Media Player (I have the latest version which I think is WMP 11). When I try to open the file I get the following error message: "Can't create file: voice-message.wav. Hi, we are setting up a new office. with around 20 clients and one server. We chose windows server 2003 standard edition R2 on a dell 3ghz/ 4gb. Planning to use it as a file-server for CAD files and an application (ufida). What is the suggested setup when the objective is to not allow local saving of files, but rather keep the files on the server and have the clients access them over the Lan? Best Practices? Please help me create a keyboard shortcut for the .VBS file that I created using NOTEPAD. I have the shortcut on my desktop; the file, when I input the shortcut, such as Alt+Shift+Z, is supposed to "sign" my name whenever I type the shortcut. The problem is I cannot create the shortcut -- I right click on the desktop icon, select properties, then scroll through the window to the shortcut key line where the word "none" is written; if I click on it, "none" disappears and " + + " appears.
