Does anyone have experience with these two software for Optimizing WinXP - Glary Utilities (glaryutilities.com) and Advanced WindowsCare Personal (io-bit.com)? If you have experience with them and care to share - how effective and "safe" are they to us in Optimizing Performance of WinXP with SP3? Thanks for any comments. Can't have multiple logons
by Guest Wavey86- 1 reply

My PC won't allow multiple simultaneous logons. I have to logoff one user before XP will allow another to logon. If the first user tries to simply switch user, it simply won't start the other users settings at all (just flicks back onto original users screen, then back to logon screen). I keep auto updates turned on always. Can anyone help?

Disabling Group Policy all together
by Guest Jim in Cleveland- 2 replies

I know this sounds pretty drastic but is there a way of disabling all group policies with one click of the mouse?! I'm troubleshooting a problem and for the life of me and I cannot find the GP that is holding this setting that is affecting a user configuration. I thought if I could stop all the group policies all at once, there would be no guess work in it. I would disable a global setting, make the necessary changes I need to make, then turn everything back on. The change would be on an XP computer in a 2003 domain environment. The issue I'm working on is I need to make a desktop change on a user profile. I've opened up the profile (.man to a .dat) …

I recently tried to install printer software on a Win2k Terminal Server. At the end, it asked to reboot, which I did & it looks like the install hasn't finished, as I get a message about it needing to be in install mode when it boots up. How can I fix this? Thanks- -- Mr. Simpson, there are thousands of people like you with no discernable talent. Yeah, they're called Congress.

Hi, I've got Laptops falling off the domain every 2 weeks after being imaged.. I've tried the following: - Tried removing it from the domain and joining it back but get the "network cannot be reached" message - DNS is set up correctly and new machines that have been reimaged are successfully added back in to the domain without issue - Tried reseting the secure channel password using netdom on the affected machines but this failes with a similar error of not finding the domain. - Tried clearing all local profiles no Joy - Finally tried deleting the network card and adding it back on again then it joins the domain but falls off after 2 weeks. …

I keep getting a repeated error window labeled 'sidebar.exe - no disk' and an error message 'There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Hardisk3\DR7' with the options Cancel, Try Again, and Continue. I have searched my hard drive for sidebar and have found nothing. What is it? How do I get rid of it? It just started and won't stop. Thanks -GECKO

How to stop share to prompt for credentials
by Guest Carlos- 1 reply

I'm having a problem which no ones seems to resolve. I've been in few forums and no luck. Thus, I hope this forum to be my last one... it is simple... I have a 2003 Ent. SP2 box (let's call it MYBOX) which is a member in a 2003 AD domain. I have a folder which I am sharing on this member server and I want users, coming from different subnets and with PCs not joined to the AD domain where MYBOX, to be able to get into the shares without being prompted for username and password. How can I accomplish this? These are the thing I've already tried: under Configuration >Windows Settings >Security Settings >Local Policies >Security Options: …

Lost hover function on All Programs
by Guest news.zen.co.uk- 9 replies

Hi This is probably an easy fix...at least i hope it is. The problem is that normally as you hover over All Programs on the Start menu, it would bring up your list of programs. Mine has stopped doing that now, and requires a click. Pretty minor, but irritating. Anyone know if this is just a question of resetting a key in the registry, or something simple like that? Any help much appreciated! Ash

"All Users" folder
by Guest Mark- 8 replies

I have a Windows 2003 Server running AD, and about 50 Windows XP workstations. I need to copy a shortcut to the "All Users" desktop folder and do not want to have to go around to 50 computers to do this. Does someone know if this can be automated through a Group Policy or logon script? The users do NOT have admin access to their LOCAL computers so I do not think a copy command in the logon script will work. Thanks!

I am going to move from Windows XP Home to XP Professional and was wondering will a straight Upgrade to XP Pro clean up the OS as much as doing a Install. I got an OEM version of XP along with the PC, but there was no install disk, just a recovery disk to reset XP back to factory settings. It has been over 3 years since I started using this OS and it has been slowing down and some things not working and takes a very along time to start up. My problem is that I don't want to reset it back to factory settings as it effects my Office Pro, so I bought a retail version of XP Professional and was wanting to know whether doing just the upgrade will clean up the OS…

Windows 2000 Server - Stagnant Client Web Pages
by Guest massenbk- 1 reply
My Windows 2000 Server SP4 has about six DHCP WinXP clients attached. Recently, we updated our company web site at our host ISP, but the clients behind the domain server only see the legacy web site, not the update. The server is firewalled with a SonicWALL SHOH3, but IE6 on the server itself shows the updated site. So far, the books and searches don't appear to address my problem, even though it's probably an easy fix I keep stumbling over. Thanks for taking the time to point out my errors.
