Even though I have been able to move the location of the 'My Documents' from C-drive to G-drive, it won't let me move the 'C:\Documents and Settings\User\Recent' folder. Everytime I edit the registry key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders' key to change the default location of 'Recent', it changes back to the default location after I reboot. Any recently opened documents still appear in the default folder rather than the new location: I just want to move it to another root drive, V: (another partion). TweakUI doesn't list the 'Recent' folder among its 'Special Folders'. I've checked my firewall options in case i…

I've got a workstation that is randomly locking. If it locks at all, it will usually lock in succession two or three times within a five to fifteen minute period when first booted in the morning. Then the rest of the day it's fine. So heat isn't the issue, as all fans are working properly and the case vents are all clear. The power supply is pretty new and is working within its voltage range. I've swapped out the video card. Memory has been tested repeatedly. It is virus/malware free, I'm absolutely sure of it. I first attempted updating all drivers. When I shut down Windows file ccSvcHst tries to end. I then get a message that it is not responding and if I want to end task. After clicking yes, my computer takes a very long time to completely shut down (3 to 5 minutes). Any help with this problem will be appreciated. Johnny Mowad

I just recently setup Windows server 2008 standard, i currently have about 30 active users, and AD is installed and working fine... But my question is, how come if i type in a browser \\person\c$ it prompts me for a password and no matter what password i enter i still get refused? The user i normally use is administrator and that user is a member of domain admins.... firewalls are turned off by GPO This setup is a simple one domain forest... Any idea why? Thanks.. -- Rob...

Hi, I recently installed an Enterprise Root CA on my domain and am running into some issues with my servers autoenrolling a computer certificate while all of my workstations can autoenroll without any issue. Also, the CA can autoenroll itself for a computer certificate as well. Running Win XP (home). Got an USB hard drive for backup. Right now, it's got tons of files on it. I'd like to delete all files, and go to a Ghost, Casper, or Acronis thing. Is there some simple way I can delete all files at once?

All, I've recently installed the Recovery Console on a 2003 x86 server and a 2003 x64 server (both new PowerEdge servers) however when I reboot and select the RC option it quickly displays "a disk read error occurred" and it fails to start. I figured that it was maybe having a problem reading the SCSI disk so I took a look at the unsupdrv.inf file in the cmdcons folder and it appeared to be referencing the percsas.sys driver correctly (i.e. correct PERC hardware ID and sys file location) so I'm at a loss as to what's up. Windows Server 2003 x64 with latest SP and patches. Upon reboot a large number of services fail to start. Primarily this is due to the ImagePath missing for that service in the Registry. When that value is entered manually, of course the service (and any dependant service) will start. What might be the reason for this? What other corruption should we be looking for? (Backup Exec 11d cannot query the System State when choosing it for backup.)

One of the Windows 2003 Member Servers within our Domain is keeping its local System Time incorrectly. We have repeatedly set the System Time to sync via net time to one of the Time Servers (Domain Controllers). When we perform this function manually from command line using Net Time, the time syncs to the time server and gives us back a "successful" message. Unfortunantly, we see that the local System Clock stays 1 hour behind even after this Windows Time success sync message. What could be causing the Windows Server 2003 to keep its local System Time 1 hour off, and not update its time based on time received from the Domain Controller?

Are registry cleaners a good idea or bad? I have done some reading and some say they are bad and some say they are bad. Has any one here had any experience with them good or bad. Hello, We have three scopes set up, subnet 1, 2, & 3, on a single DHCP server. We have a VLAN for each subnet. However, if a machine moves from an office on subnet 1, to the conference room on subnet 2, the machine holds the old subnet 1 address. It will not give up the address on reboot, disable/reenable the NIC, release/renew, anything. The only way to get the address to be given up and get an address on the new subnet it to manually go to the DHCP server, delete the lease, set a static address on the NIC on the machine and ping, then set the NIC back to DHCP. At this point it will get the correct address on Subnet 2. Then this must be repeated when…

Is it possible to offer access to Remote Apps based on membership in AD Security Groups? Lets say if you are a member of the App_Office group, you will se only the Office programs, and if you also are a member off the App_Admin group, you will also se some extra Remote Apps, just for the administrators. So basicly the AD group membership should decide which Remote Apps you have access to. How can we accomplish this with TS 2008, TS Web Access and TS Gateway?

XP SP2 professional. I've updated every hotfix from microsoft and also change the registry stated from microsoft, yet i still see one cpu per graph at the task bar. The machine was ghosted previously. How do i enable to see dual cpu ?

I have a legal xp pro system for 2 computers and in the last 2 month have been having hardware problems and have had to reinstall several and move a previously installed system to another computer. Now Microsoft is treating these two installed systems like they are bootleg ones and cutting off several important licenses and aren't letting me download updates . How can I get them to see these two systems are legal. (I hate to admit this I seem to have lost the original answers sto this question. ) Please resend your responces
