Net Time problems. Daylight Savings etc
by Guest Salvador Manaois III- 2 replies

Hi, You may want to give the steps outlined here a spin: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;914387 Basically you need to create a .reg file and merge this with the registry of all your machines. You will then need to create a .vbs script to reload the TimeZoneInformation registry key. -- Salvador Manaois III MCSE MCSA CEH MCITP | Enterprise/Server Admin Bytes & Badz : http://badzmanaois.blogspot.com "NewsPig" wrote: > Hello, > My DC is 2000 SBS > Workstations are XP SP3 different ages and configurations > Client software requires users to have local admin rights (Uggh) > I am in Aus GM…

I have been looking all around on the internet to find a solution to this problem I’m writing you about. ISSUE: - This is an example: When a user is using Word and then their internet line cuts out for some reason. They logon to the system again. Open word to recover their document. But no recovery information is shown. I think this must be because the recovery info is not saved to the roaming profile. This means that whenever a user have a connection loss or something that happens so that the user is thrown of our system. They cannot get the auto recover info. This is quite annoying. Is there a way to solve this. So that office auto rec…

Ages ago I made an old 256mb USB pen drive bootable, using HP's http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&mode=3&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-UNITY-I23839 ....( I think that was the utility ) "HP Drive Key Boot Utility" ....and used a 1.44mb floppy whose contents got placed onto the pen-drive, and then I could boot from the USB pen drive, and run the dos *.exe prog's that I'd put on it as wel,l of course. Recently I've been trying to do the same sort of thing, i.e. (XP Home ed. BTW) ...formatted a 1.44mb diskette as a boot-up floppy | copied memtest's mt200.exe (precompiled *.exe), onto it .....and …

Windows Can't See Ubuntu Hard Drive
by Guest ShadowTek- 8 replies

I have 2 SATA 250GB hard drives. The first hard drive has Ubuntu 8.04 AMD64 installed on an EXT3 partition, and there is also a 5GB swap partition. The second hard drive has WindowsXP installed on an NTFS parition, and there is another FAT32 recovery partition on that drive. Windows doesn't see the drive with Ubuntu on it, in spite of the fact that I have installed a working EXT driver for Windows that I have regularly used with my EXT3 external hard drive. How can I get Windows to see the partitions on the Ubuntu drive? Also, Ubuntu can see the NTFS partition just fine, but it doesn't see the FAT32 partition. Why is that?

Hi, Is possible that the installation disc can 'degenerate' and end up being useless? I have a installation disc of Windows XP Pro 64 and everytime time I install the OS it ends up with the same problem: can't read file ChkAcc.log -> please run Chkdisc. And after that the OS crashes and is, more or less useless to work with. I have cleaned the disc and the dvd-player - but nothing helps. Thank, Ulf

My Photos folder opens VERY slowly...
by Guest Howard B- 7 replies

Hi everyone! I have a Dell Dimension running Windows XP with enough RAM! Today when I tried opening up My Photos folder from my C drive, it took a VERY long time to open. Once I opened a selected a folder within My Photos, the folder opened, but when I chose to go back, it took a very long time to perform that activity, as well. Rebooting the computer did not help. Opening up the My Pictures folder from my external G hard drive (everything is back up there) opened instantly. Any ideas? Thanks!

auto-switch to dialup
by Guest b.jeswine- 4 replies

This w2k/sp4 machine has a hard-wired network connection that allows internet access via a router connected to a satellite connection. It also has a modem dialup connection that when active is the routed path to the internet. If the dialup fails, then the route is automatically switched to the hard-wired satellite conneection and there is only a brief interrupttion in connectivity while the modem redials. If the redial is successful the the route changes back to the dialup. What is necessary please to make it so that if I choose the hard-wired satellite connection and that fails due to transient problems such as weather interference, misalignment etc. that t…
