Terminal server Profile folders
by Guest SPP-IT- 2 replies

When a new user is created we add under terminla server profile in AD the path to the location we store all are users profiles. \\Servername\profiles\username what is happening, when the folder for the user is created it is not inherating permisions from the parent folder. This is not a problem for the domain admins, but we have Help Desk Techs who are a member of a Group and we have added them to the profiles folder with modify permisions, since the folders do not inherat the perminsion we need to go in manually and check this option. I have two questions. 1) is this because the System Account is creating the folder and by design does not check the opti…

Hi all, W2K3 Enterprise, SP 2. In the last week or so, my server has been shutting down. There are no errors in the event log prior to shutting down. Upon restart, I get a WINS error and more importantly a DCOM errror. I terminal service into this server to do all my work. WINS isn't a big issue for me, but DCOM is because without DCOM, I can't terminal service into the server. DCOM: Event ID: 10005 DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. Insufficient system resources to load user profile
by Guest Archi3- 1 reply

We are running Server 2003 R2 SP2 running Active Directory and as one of domain admins on the network, I get the message when I login to this domain controller via Remote Desktop. Windows cannot load the User profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system. Detail - insufficient system resources exist to, Complete the requested services. I've been looking for a solution to this and found KB article 935649 but I don't think this applies since this machine is not used as a Terminal Server. Is there any other possible solution as to why I get this message when I login? Is it AD not properly authenticating me or is it a TS pro…

Just a Hello

I haven't stuck my head in here much in a LONG time. (Probably a bit over a year ago.) So, well, I figured I'd stick my head in and say hi. I don't even have an ME image in a VM to play with, I suppose I could set one up but I'm lazy. I'll take this moment in time to remind everyone that Friday is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. Anywho... Limited account Password protected I Googled it and learned that it's something from Microsoft. Is it OK (safe) to leave it there? It's not on my new notebook computer with XP Pro SP2... Thanks much! Scanreg for Windows 2000?
by Guest John John (MVP)- 7 replies

No, Windows 2000 does not have a similar utility. To back up your registry create an Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) and select to backup the registry at the same time. Keep your ERD up to date, when you do major changes to your system create a new ERD. Computer Media Too Fast
by Guest DaffyD®- 3 replies

There's problem a problem with my computer system I've never encountered before. The whole system has speeded up. All online streaming media, video, mp3s, and wavs are all playing too fast so that everything is in fast motion and people and sound like chipmunks. Even the Windows event sounds are fast. The system itself has been speeded up since icons appear more rapidly as well, pages load faster. Has this happened to anyone? Where would I go to slow down whatever controls speed on my compter? I think this happened after I did an ASPI install. How would I slow down the system again? -- DaffyD® If I Knew Where I Was I'd Be There Now.

I need to start my site problem over. I help adminster a Win2003 domain in a hospital. Recently we installed 10 workstations in a subclinic 60 miles away. The clinic connects to the hospital with a T1 direct WAN link. The tech who set this up, now gone, placed a router at the subclinic and the router routes to the hospital for one network and the default gateway is to another router connecting to the Internet. The network at the clinic is. of course, different from the network the hospital uses. The route to the hospital is used for certain medical applications and the Internet is used for an accounting and billing application(different from what the h…

In the past I had very bad experience regarding data restoration from NTbackup Full system backup file. I am using Windows 2k3 & 2K server both. I am using Dell power edge 6600, 6650 &1850 servers. When the server OS crashes I used to do following steps 1. First I install OS. 2. Install service pack same as old O/S has & all security patches. 3. After that restore full backup from tape But after completion of this when I restore full backup of server through Ntbackup Some times server restarts again & again continuously or sometime few of the services or application of servers not runs properly. I am restoring from FUL…
