SharePoint v2 Issue - Edit in Microsoft Office Word
by Guest Michael- 0 replies
Just recently, within our SharePoint (v2) Document Library, multiple idividuals are reported issues for when they click on the document name drop down menu and choose "Edit in Microsoft Office Word". Expected behavior is for the document to open up within MS Word 2003. Now, MS Word does not open when "Edit in Microsoft Office Word" is chosen. The work around is to start MS Word (winword.exe) first, then the document opens as expected. Or, they can simply double-click on the link to the document, and MS Word opens the document (The only problem with this double-click method is that is misinforms you that the document is Read-Only which confuses the …

best LCD monitor(s) to buy - please help 1 2
by Guest Adam- 36 replies

Not sure what's the best newsgroup for this topic so here goes ... I'm thinking about replacing my ViewSonic P815 monitor from CRT to LCD. I'm always on the computer (working) so I need a nice setup. So far, I've found good reviews on the following LCD monitors ... 1) Samsung T220 Black/Red 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor 2) Dell SP2208WFP Silver 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor However, a dual monitor setup would be nice if the price is right. Not sure what's the best size for this setup though. I'm thinking of a dual 19"-20" LCD monitor setup since a dual 21"-22" LCD monitor setup might be too much? Also, some widescreen LCD monitors can be rotated from la…

Its the END PROCESS screen listing all proceses running with the % used by each program. The top tab with the simple list of open programs and the third tab are gone. Can anyone explain what happened?

Delayed Write Failed
by Guest BroncoAvsFan- 5 replies

I am runing Windows XP Prof Ver. 2002. Yesterday I downloaded SP 3. First off, I know little about computers. I recently installed a new Western Digital SCSI 500 GB hard drive. It installed and formated without problem other than I could only do this as a dynamic Disk. After transfering all files to this new drive (317 GB) and thinking everinthing was fine, I erased the old files from 2 other hard drives they were on. About a day later I got this error: {Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all the data for the file \Device\LanmanRedirector (F:\$Mft). The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardwar…

From time to time I see the Recycle Bin icon indicates content. When I attempt to empty it I receive a message that says "Are you sure you want to delete WINDOWS?" Once I called its bluff and clicked on yes. It did not delete WINDOWS. What is happening here and can it be corrected? This is not a virus.

Disable (Remove) the RDP Audio driver?
by Guest rmeechan@kpttest.com- 2 replies
Hi All, I am running into issues with our terminal server - we need to use an application that keeps crashing due to the virtual sound driver and currently there is no solution. Is there anyway to remove the RDP audio driver from TS so that each user session has no sound card installed? Changing the settings No audio, Redirect audio to remote/ local etc always has the RDP audio driver enabled for the user session. I'm just looking for some dirty way to remove it such as the audio redirector DLL's or something? I really need to get this application working in TS and currently the developers of the app have no solution nor a future fix as far as I know... …

Microsoft Certificate Services Questions
by Guest admintgal- 0 replies

We are thinking about bringing up a CA within our organization and I had a few questions about Microsoft's CA services.... I noticed you can configure standalone or enterprise CA's. What are the advantages of integrating your CA in to AD? When using MS CA services what happens if the CA server goes down? Is there some link between the certs and the server in which they don't work if that server is down or is it just that certs cannot be created, requested or issued? Thanks in advance.

RDP / Terminal Services / Mandatory Profiles
by Guest Glenn- 7 replies

I have users that connect to a Citrix environment and use the Terminal Server tab on the AD User Properties to setup thier profile. Now a couple of these users need to connect to a Windows Server 2003 R2 (64bit) to run some processes using Remote Desktop (RDP). The problem is that thier profile for the Citrix servers get loaded as a mandatory profile on the server. I want them to get a local profile and ignore the other settings. I have looked at GP and Local Security settings without any success. There are a some settings under Computer>Admin>Profiles>Windows>Terminal Services>Profiles I tried but did not work. Thanks, -- Glenn…
