by Guest Tester- 6 replies

Hi, Can someone explain me how max inbound connections work in windows XP and why I am getting the error above? Although I have only 6 W2K PCs with 4 mapped drives to the XP Pro sharing machine I am getting an error I am out of connections on the client. Is not it the connection counted per machine ? I am getting a number of client connection on a share higher then the number of machines for ex. and each client has the shares mapped once through a mapped drive and a shortcut to it on the desktop. I am looking in computer management, shared folders, shares. Thank you very much, T

I have a 2003 Server SP1 which is being used for volume snapshots (EMC Replication Manager) and BackupExec to back them up to tape nightly. About once a month I get the below error in the event log: Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7034 Date: Date Time: Time User: N/A Computer: ComputerName Description: The Virtual Disk Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this number time(s). After some searching around, I found the following two fixes which are meant to resolve this issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949001 (339526_ENU_i386_zip.exe) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/9486…

Print drivers and Server 2008
by Guest Jason A Ash- 1 reply

Looking for a recommendation. I have several clients using Windows Server 2008 Terminal Servers, having a problem with the print spooler service stopping. I feel that part of this may stem from the fact that not all the printers in use have drivers for Server 2008. What we did in those cases, was to use the Windows Vista print drivers, which seems to have worked. So, my questions are, was using the Vista drivers a good idea? Or, should we have used Server 2003 drivers, and if so, will they load without a problem? These Terminal Servers were put into an existing enviroment, so we had no control over the printers the remote clients have, some have mult…

Distributing files to workstations
by Guest notagirrafe- 5 replies

I have two applications which are installed by MSI, but which then require administrative logon to each workstation to configure them. I have examines them and captured the changes which are made and it boils down to a few files I need to add to the Windows directory on the workstation. I would like to do that from a normal user logon so I don't have to visit every workstation, but how do I script that? The user logon script fails because it does not have permissions to write to the Windows directory. Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to install an Access 2007 package on a Terminal Server 2003. I can install the same package on all other computers and servers in the Domain, but not the server running Terminal Services. I get the error "Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remover Programs on the Control Panel." I've tried uninstalling Access Runtime which installed on a previous install and it still gives the same error. The main difference between this version and a previous package that worked is now this version uses ADO to access SQL Serv…

Is it possible to map a key combination (i.e. Alt+M) and have the result be a text entry? My email address is fairly long, and when I have to enter it on web sites (sign-ins, etc) I would like to be able to use a simpler shortcut.

I know that I inquired about this awhile back, but I have 2 questions on it. I can allready hear the collective groan out there and a few "OMG's" but when I uninstall 2007 before I update to 2008 where does all the quarantined stuff go? Does it go away with the program or what? And why do you have to uninstall, doesn't the new one just update the old one?
