Help with IE8 beta
by Guest LMO- 9 replies
Aloha all. I installed IE8 beta, and now something odd happens on some of my pages (ABC News, for instances). When there is a photo with a caption, the caption at first appears correctly, then moves up over the photo and I cannot read the caption. I cannot find a switch in the options that might control this. I was able to remove IE8 Beta in the Control Panel, but now cannot reinstall IE7. Can anyone help me either fix the text problem, of reinstall IE7? Thanks!

At startup of XP Pro SP2 I got the following message: ==== "When I boot up my PC get an error message 'Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt Windows\AppPatch\drvmain.sdb You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows set up using original set up CD-ROM. Select r on the first screen to start repair." ==== If I shutdown and restart the computer it often starts but startup takes a long time. Before the slow startup or the failure-with-message there is a large band across the bottom of the screen that looks kind of like barcode and like a progress bar. I recently tried to install SP3 and got an access denied err…

I recently purchased a Powerspec E372 machine. From my old computers I added a soundblaster sound card, and a plextor ide dvd drive. The machine worked fine for the first couple weeks. Recently, I have started seeing windows xp professional freeze when I put a disc in the plextor ide drive I have not seen the problem when using the pioneer sata dvd drive. and launch EAC or Nero 7 Other than changing ide cable, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this and what the cause might be. Could it have anything to do with an IDE drive in an SATA machine? My computer information Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Processor Q9300 8GB composed of 4- 2048MB DDR2/800 …

by Guest kbgrunt- 3 replies

Just switched from Novell to Windows Server 2003 R2. Individual remote users (XP PRO SP2) use Microsofts PPTP VPN to access a SnapGear router/vpn/firewall. Once connected users can access Unix servers as if local, and used to run Novell login. Novell login script would map drives for user. How does a remote user access Windows server resources, drive mappings? PCs are set to boot up to Windows login for domain. Thanks.

I have tree file servers: Windows Server 2003 x32, as my Domain Controller Windows Server 2003 x64, with Exchange Server, this server has a partition with about 55GB I could use Windows Server 2003 x64, with Microsoft SQL Server, this server has a partition with about 129GB I could use Is there any reason I shouldn't install WSUS on any one of these servers? Is there a good reason to install WSUS on a specific server? I'm trying to figure out if I will run into conflicts on any one of these servers. Everything is running smooth and I don't want to change that if at all possible... Thanks Kelvin
