Problems migrating AD PDC
by Guest Paul Chow- 13 replies

I am trying to migrate from an old W2K3 Active Directory domain controller to a new one. Eventually I want to remove the old server from the network. I have never done this before and it is a little bit out of my league so I Googled, read and hopefully followed several articles that I found, but am still getting some errors logged. The list of AD users, computers etc replicated over to the new server, but when I turn off the old one no one can log in and there is no Internet access. I think both of these problems are due to DNS (which I really understand about 1% of). There are no errors in the DNS log though (just info that the service started). Most of th…

Migrating 2003 Terminal Server to new domain

Hello, I am attempting to migrate a Windows 2003 Terminal Server (also the licensing server) from one domain to another. I am using a Quest tool that will migrate the TS server from current domain to new domain. The Quest tool will maintain profiles during this trasition. Because the server functions as a terminal server and licensing server, I am not sure if it will migrate properly and "just work". I am not certain if term server lic server requires same fully qulaified domain name of server, etc? I have already copied the appropriate GPO to lock down the TS server in the new domain, so this should not be a concern. Any ideas or has someone actu…

Hello, I have set up a VPN tunnel between 2 Sonic Wall routers. From location A, I can access network shared drives located at location B. But from location A, using a Windows XP computer, I cannot telnet to any Solaris UNIX workstations located at location B. Whenever I use telnet, I get error about cannot open port 23. Does Sonic Wall lock out port 23? Any suggestions how to fix this problem? Thanks.

Re: Windows 3.x program wont work on Win98 On second thought, I see you did give a procedure below, so maybe I should try it sometime (assuming I can still find a good 3.1 app that's worth playing with). But Windows 3.1 is "simply another DOS application", per se????? (Call me skeptical). > Color me skeptical here: > How is Windows 3.1 simply another "DOS application"? Windows Server 2008 - How do I determine the current Activation Hardware Tolerance value for a MAK activated machine? TIA! Hi all, I would like to find out how I can find the current value of the "Activation Hardware Tolerance" variable on a MAK activated machine. A few of the hard drives have been swapped and I'd like to take some RAM out of the machine. I assume this action will change hash value and therefore the AHT value... is there an slmgr.vbs command to querry this? Thanks for any help!

I am fairly sure how to backup all the things I need, but I was not sure what to do about my kid's MSN accounts. Hello, Recently, I notice that some sites seem to be blocked without my intending to do it. I use yahoo mail. There are some advertisements on the page. Since recently, sometimes some of the advertisements cannot be shown, and its place is taken by the "Cannot show the webpage" error page. Then there is the website hk.match.com. I noticed that I cannnot reach it. However, if I try using a webproxy such as http://go.pinkyorange.net/nph-proxy.pl, hk.match.com can be reached. So the website is not down.
