I've been using ZoneAlarm since before Windows had a fire wall. Just continued after Windows option appeared. Now I'm wondering if there is any reason to use ZoneAlarm or if the Windows product is just as good. What do you think? Thanks

Install SQL before VS or the other way?
by Guest _Who- 2 replies

I wish to install SQL SERVER 2008 and VS 2008 Team System. I presently have installed VS 2008 Pro and SQL 2005 There is also a folder called SQL Server Compact edition which I think is from a different installation than the SQL Server (by the folder dates). Is this from something other than SQL2005? Looking at the Add/Remove Programs listing there also appears an entry for VS 2005 professional edition-enu which I don't understand - thought I removed that before installing vs2008 pro I thought I'd uninstall everything names SQL.. and VS... And after that delete any folders so named (if any are left) Then install the new software. See anything …

Internet Explorer 6 "auto-fit" settings?
by Guest cam35pilot- 4 replies

Hi, I had a bunch of spyware on my PC, so I cleaned it off and I may be wrong, but it seemed that websites such as cnn.com and foxnews.com, along with Ebay used to "auto-fit" in my browser (set at 800x600). aol.com especially. If I opened up AOL.com in IE, it would have the "sign in" area off to the right (scrolling), but once I logged in or refreshed, it would then fit to the 800x600 setting. Is this a setting in IE, or is it website specific? Thanks. Rich

Hi All, I have a question on using NTFS compress partition. I used to use NTFS without compress on my mobile disk and have little fragment. Recently, I formatted its all partition and use compress on each partition. When I copy all files back to it, I found that there are so many fragment on each partition. And when I copy a file to it, it shows as fragment. I check all this by using Windows XP defragment. Does anybody know why? Thank you!

This may have already been posted here, just wanted to note there are new Nvidia Nforce drivers out, dated 9/12, version 15.23 Vista 64 bit - http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_vista64_15.23.html XP 64 bit - http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_winxp64_15.23.html I was running 9.64, in Vista Ultimate 64 bit, I upgraded to these a few minutes ago without issue. Too early for me to comment on any noticeable difference, I have read in other forums, some folks reporting improved network performance, and improved usb performance/ responsiveness. There also is a new " away mode ", not sure exactly what that is or does. -- Don
