Personal settings/My Documents/All defaults
by Guest Kim G- 3 replies

Everytime I restart my computer all my personal settings are lost and all new documents and or desktop items are gone. I search for them by name under the C drive and they are somehow moved into my documents and settings/temp file under a new folder created (that I didn't create) named "Owner Documents". If I save a new document in "My documents" it is also moved out of there and into this file. What is going on? This happened out of no where???? I work from home and this is awful!

schtasks doesn't run programs with spaces
by Guest Jonathan Miller- 7 replies

I need to use the schtasks.exe to create a new scheduled task. One of the parameters allows you to specify the filename. The file I want to run is in the Program Files folder. I specify the path, the task gets created but will not run! The only way to fix it is to open the properties of the task in the GUI and add double quotes around the whole path! Is there an escape sequence or something I can use in the command line so that the quotes stay on the file name? Here is what I'm doing: schtasks /create /SC DAILY /ST 02:30:00 /TN test /TR "C:\Program Files\Test\Test.exe" /RU SYSTEM As you can see I have double quotes around the path so that the …

RE: XP volume icon trouble
by Guest A. N. Brickey- 0 replies

RE: XP volume icon trouble I tried that several times. I think the key thing to do is after you tell the computer to always show the volume control icon, hit apply then ok. After that is completed, restart your computer. If the problem isn't fixed, go into your control panel and sounds and see if you can find a place where it asks if you want the icon on the taskbar. Worked for me. Before I had done the properties thing, I had tried the sounds thing. I had no options. So, I'm really thinking that the taskbar properties is the first place you should turn to.

Going to this page - click on the blue icon - obviously the files are being stored somewhere on my system, since they play back immediately whenever I go back to the site - I'm on 56k dialup. However, I look for *.mp3 and come up with nothing, nor do I find them searching by size and date. As good as they sound, they must be large. http://jordynshellhart.com/music.htm Thanks

Man skickas runnt i en carousell av idiotiska non fungerande sites, på inget ställe , kan man skriva in den product key man har på baksidan av DVD 'n Jag har mest lust att kasta skiten där den hör hemma , i högen av nonfunctionable Windows products Är det inte möjligt för Bill Gates att göra en fungerande homepage, då är det väl inte lönt att installera hans skitprogram heller Billy boy can - anytime - use my comment publicly and in any add , he finds useable

Microsoft Server/Networking Certifications
by Guest Steve Freides- 3 replies

I would appreciate a short primer on Microsoft Networking and Server certifcation programs, course and self-study options, etc. A bit of background: I have been a Netware administrator for a decade or longer. I currently adminster an environment that includes 4 Netware 6.5 server and 1 Microsoft SBS Premium. I have learned enough to do what I need through the administration tools supplied with the server plus the occasional phone call to the hardware vendor, in this case Dell, who have been generous in their support of questions that are about the Server OS and not specifically about their hardware. The site in question is moving and has decided t…

Recreating Boot Device from Backup
by Guest Will- 2 replies

I'm using NT Backup on Windows 2003 Server 64-bit and backup the boot volume and System State. I then restore to an alternate device, with the intention to migrate this to boot device. On restore, I see that even restoring System State, none of the registry files in c:\windows\system32\config are being restored. What is the trick to restoring the complete boot volume, including System State, to an alternate drive? I cannot use Dynamic Disk to mirror on this computer. I installed Symantec Storage Foundation Basic, and it successfully managed to break dynamic replication of the boot volume. -- Will
