Hi there, Is there a command to flush cache data to disk in XP? I am thinking of these situations when an office application opened document hangs up, I need to force close it and I still want data somehow recovered. Is there another better way? I notice sometimes the document when opened is asking do you want to revert to the recovered document? Thanks, T

Re: Can't post a new topic on newsgroups After reading through this thread I'm not sure I understood what the solution is. I, too am having this problem. I'm using XP, IE 6.0. I can reply to a post but when I click on "NEW" nothing happens. My popups are turned off. I tried the "poo" rename thing, too. The other thing that happens is when I click on a topic the post doesn't appear in the right panel. I have to double click on it to read it. I have the same setup at my office...XP Pro and IE 6 and everything works fine. It must be some IE setting. Any ideas? "Vanguard" wrote: > "Nelda" <Nelda@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in mes…

Does anyone know a way to discover which process is consuming most disk IO in Windows Server 2003? Think about a Terminal Services Windows Server that has more than 700 processes running. Performance Monitor and SysInternals Process Explorer provided some help in the past. Is there a tool like Resource Monitor in Vista ou Windows Server 2008 available to Windows Server 2003? Tks in advance. ps.: sorry my english.

I get this error while attemting to change something in my startup using MSCONFIG. I have both HP Software and Macfee running. This just started the other day I have gone in and changed the PML Driver HPZ12 and that does not do it. I think it may have something to do with an automatic download frustrating any help would be greatly appreciated.

by Guest capnat- 1 reply

Hi all, Whenever I login to my system Xp for the past 2 days, a prompt comes up for windows installer. I took below steps to check which file is running when I login to my system 1) checked in registry Run 2) checked in start > program > startup folder 3) checked services > for programs running I have not installed anything new and do not see anything different. Question is How to check which file is opening after Login i.e. even services. Because it is disturbing and takes time, the windows installer pops up 3 three times, makes me to click OK three times. nat

different search
by Guest ANTHONY DIODATI- 7 replies

Hi all, When I use the search feature in IE 6, I am most of the time re directed to some other search page, and it is not the page I opened from my search. The correct page will be there for a second or 2, but then I am re directed to a different search. It is not the same one all the time, but different ones. I did run hi jack this, spy bot search and destroy, but still the same , I also did delete cookies, through IE and also manually, still no luck. Any other good program I can run. Thanks, Tony

by Guest Dave Candi- 1 reply

My screen freezes on a regular basis? The mouse pointer freezes and i have to cold boot the machine and run chkdsk in recovery console? I've partitioned my pc so have to do this /r on multiple drives. This is becoming a hassle. Chkdsk finds errors and fixes them and the pc is fine for a short while after until the problem reoccurs? Can I copy recvoery console onto the hard drive? I know theres a way of doing this but can't remember exaclty how? Will this speed up the use of recovery console? Will i be prompted for recovery console at boot up? Any help most welcome

Does anyone know anything about the "programmed life" that's allegedly in Epson printers. i.e. I've heard the odd story about after x no. of pages they "die" Just had another lady tell me her 18 month old D68 is telling her that it's, in as many words, "died" I've just been Googling to try and find out how and if one can reflash the firmware in Epson printers. TIA regards, Richard

Forward Slash
by Guest Barry Karas- 2 replies

11:25 AM 8/24/2007 The forward slash (/) is quite popular. For example web pages' addresses begin with "http://". (My quotation marks.) Yet the forward slash is not acceptable for many computer functions. For example the slash cannot be used for Windows Explorer names. Is there a way to make the slash acceptable? If so, how can I make the forward slash acceptable? Thank you, Barry Karas
