by Guest LeighP- 5 replies

We have a client - remote with own IT (i.e. have never seen this setup personally). They're running Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition Terminal Services. The server has Office 2003 Standard Edition installed on it. We have an Access 2003 Runtime application recently installed on it. This same runtime application has successfully installed on many hundreds of PCs and indeed several TS servers perfectly well. It's an Access 2003 Runtime wrapped in an Installshield expression package (uses an MSI). On this one instance - every attempt to launch the application file (an Access mde) sees the whole install of the package fire up and attempt to run again.…

I am add "Server Authentication Certificate" to my Terminal Service like there http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/a92d8eb9-f53d-4e86-ac9b-29fd6146977b1033.mspx?mfr=true but remote users without any "Certificates" can connect to my Terminal Server with message - "Terminal Server have certificate - Ignore?" :-) But I want that remote users without "secret Certificate" can not connect to Terminal Service. Is it possible? Thanks.

by Guest Edward- 1 reply

Current condition: Users have different access to a single Windows 2003 file server. They have 3 or 4 mapping drives on same server. No of user: 400 Purpose: If I want to implement search engine function on file server for them to retrieve file (A single page e..g Web page for all users). They could see search result files with their access permission only. Not show other users file under group or individual account. I do not want all users need to have desktop search engine on thier PC to query their mapping drive. Would windows Desktop search engine for server can handle it ? If not, any suggest solution to could handle it ?

64bit driver for Lexmark x2250
by Guest Dillinger- 3 replies

I have recently built a new pc and used xp pro 64 as the o/s. Everything is fine other than I can't load the software or drivers for my Lexmark x2250, as they are not compatible with xp pro 64. I have contacted Lexmark, who say they do not have any 64 bit drivers available for this model and I was wondering if anyone had had the same problem and, more importantly, do they have a resolution to this? The last thing I want to do is to have to get a new printer/scanner Thanks

Manual update of internet time
by Guest Gr11zzly- 3 replies

Since my last XP update I am unable to manually update/synchronize Internet time. I get the message " An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with time.nist.gov" This is regardless of the server selected. I have the same problem on my laptop. After startup the INTERNET TIME tab on the clock shows that there had been a successful synchronization at power on. From this I assume NTP and the firewall are OK. Any suggestions?

problems moving software package from xp to 2003
by Guest RossB- 1 reply

I am moving 2 software packages from XP to server 2003, for use on citrix. The software works okay on XP, but not on server 2003. The error message given when run on server 2003 is "runtime error 31037, error loading from file". Is there any way, either through windows or Third party tools, to tell which files an application uses .eg .dlls, .ocx files etc. The software I am installing is MS HIS client 2000 & a custom application.

Search feature isn't working in WinXP SP2
by Guest Anthony Smith- 3 replies
Good Afternoon, I just recently created a new user on this XP machine. It has/had other existing user accounts. Well for some reason search isn't work. This user is set up as an administrator. What happens when I click Start Menu | Search It appears to open up Windows explorer and all I see is the little Dog wagging his tail in the Search Companion dialog box. But nothing else is displayed in that box. I don't have any options to search for any files. Not sure what is happening. If I log off this user and log on with a different user, Search works fine. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks! Sincerely, Anthony Smith In God We Trust!

Virtual server R2 sp1 using NTBackup issues
by Guest Jeff S.- 1 reply

On the Virtual server host I schedule NTbackups for the guests. I do not shutdown or save the state on the virtual guests as I thought SP1 supports this method of guest backups. The ntbackup job backs up the folders where the *.vhd, *.vnc and *.vsv files are located. The ntbackup jobs finish successfully, however I get the following message in the virtual server event viewer when the ntbackup begins: The VSS writer failed to get the properties of the virtual machine "virtual machine name". The virtual machine is allowed for Offline backup only. I noticed that this message only occurs for 2003 guests, the 2000 guests do not produce this message. C…
