So i have a rather beefy server that ive taken the page file off of. when i run perfmon and look at pages/sec its HIGH... like 2000-8000 since i have no page file what exactly is this measuring? Thanks Justin

One of the users on my network is setup with a roaming profile. In the last week or so, she says she has been organizing and rearranging her My Documents folder, but when she logs off or even restartes her PC all the chages she's name revert back to what they had been. If this is a symptom of her profile being corrupt, which one is corrupt, her local one of the one on the server? Should I disable her roaming profile by taking the path to her profile our of her network account and then delete the profile on the server, then put the path to the profile back into her account? This seems like the only way to resolve this... Any input would be appreciate…

I'd like to map to my ftp but every time i click on start then run then type in the server name it doesn't work....works perfectly on xp....now the operating system is 98 second edition and 2000 pro...this stopped working after an upgrade was made to 2003 small business edition server....any suggestions would be appreciated.... thank you

When I download a few hundred gps data points over my USB - Serial hookup, something happens that not only aborts the download, but immediately cuts power to the whole computer. I've used this gps for a few years and successfully downloaded lots of (track) data points over a serial RS232 type connection. Then I got a new computer, that doesn't have an RS232 plug in. So, I got a USB - Serial hookup with driver, and everything works fine, provided I don't download too much data. I downladed a Game and installed it when i go to play it it says mode not supported H:53.6khz V:84.9hz but if i bring up task manager it says that it is running.i got in touch with the site that i downloaded it from and they said that my driect x was not up to date i have driect x version 9.0c. i also want to know how do you find out if you have duplicate files?

Hello, I think someone told me about this and I forgot to write down the info. We have a pretty large server with a lot of files on it and some large files are duplicates. We are running Windows 2003 R2 X64 SP2. What is the best way to find duplicates? Thanks

I'm not 100% sure if this is the right place to post this, but I recently reimaged my computer with Windows XP. I am going to install either Microsoft Works 8 or Microsoft Works 9. I have copies of both of them, but I want to ask your opinions on which is better. I will proably use the word processor, spreadsheet, and calendar program. Tanks in advance for any advice.

I currently am using two Samsung 19 inch monitors and need to add another. I'm thinking of buying a 23 inch and put it in the middle between the two 19 inch. The video card I have is Nvidia GeForce 6800GT. What would be the best way to do this? Should I buy one more video card that has at least one preferably two monitors and use it on the new monitor? Should I buy a new video card that has three monitor out's on it? Do they even make such video cards. If I buy another video card and still use the one I have on the two 19 inch all I have available are the PCI slots. Would that be OK? Thanks J

I want to disable an offline tape device in Removable Storage. The device is currently using Symantec drivers since I am using Backup Exec as my data protection method. How do you manually disable the offline tape device so the change is reflected in Removable Storage? Thank you.

For time-tracking purposes, I'd like to log the amount of time I spend in each application on my computer. Is there an easy way to do that in Windows? Searching the newsgroups, I've seen vague references to a Windows "event log" which records every application start-up. If it also records every application shut-down, then it may be what I need. Can anyone provide me with more detail about this mysterious "event log"? -TC

Installed the PN18, and have been unable to get it to work on a Shuttle ST20G5 XPC running XP x64sp2. I had pulled down 64 bit drivers for this a few months back from the shuttle site, and they installed without any problems. My router sees the PN18 MAC Addee, but the PN18 doesn't see the router. Router is less than 4 feet away, so signal isn't an issue. Anyone else had experience(s) with the PN18, would like to hear what you did to get it to work. Thanks, Eric

Tried all your suggestions, apart from one, but prob a language issue as some of one response included garbled text on my pc, anyway... here's how i got round the issue and got ntbackup chugging along again.... in the shadow copy settings of the c drive, even the though c drive (systemroot) wasn't using shadow copies for previous versions, i changed the settings so it would save shadow copies to a different drive other than itself.
