What is the actual memory limit for Win98se?
by Guest eagerbeaver@nospam.com- 4 replies

When I look at websites, (and most of them found on google are discussion groups), I find that no one actually agrees with how much RAM memory win98 can support. I've seen as little as 512megs to as much as 4 gigs. Does anyone know a definate answer? I presently have 384megs and it runs well. I could replace the 128 meg with a 256, a 512, or larger. I doubt I'd want to go any bigger than that, but a 512 replacement would give me 768 and that seems plenty for win98. However, can win98 use that or am I better just going with 512? Thanks EagerBeaver

ActiveX controlls blocked machine-wide
by Guest G. More- 2 replies

Windows XP Home SP2 AVG antivirus, Windows firewall. When browsing pages with ActiveX controlls the IE information bar reads: "Your security settings do not allow Web sites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly. Click here for options." Clicking on the bar, the ONLY option available is Help. The option to install or allow ActiveX controlls is not there. I have tried everything I could find here and on the net to fix this problem and nothing works. Reinstalling XP is NOT an option. The PC is 100% free of malware and completely up to date (WindowsUpdate works just fine as you may notice). Creating …

Ive tried using Nero 7 and windows (vista ultimate x64), the disc is ejected without attempting a burn and an error message appears "unable to burn the project". The dvd properties do show a 8GB disc in the drive and device manager says its working properly. Other than this problem it has worked fine. Its an LG GSA 4163B super multi re writer, the firmware is up to date, windows is up to date and has no updates for this problem. The discs are Infiniti 8x dual layer +r. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated thanks

Problems with "Windows Genuine Advantage" module after today's upd
by Guest Edward Ripley-Duggan- 0 replies

This morning, I found a substantial group of Windows XP, Media, and Explorer updates indicated as needing download in the tray. I duly ran these. Immediately after rebooting, my machine (a Dell Dimension 5150) became unstable. Upon booting into my desktop, an error message appeared indicating that there was an error in the Windows Genuine Advantage Module. More distressingly, I was from then on unable to run *any* programs. I went into safe mode and rolled back the system 24 hours. I restarted and my machine ran in a stable fashion. I then re-downloaded only the four specific Windows XP patches, as I consider these to be the most crucial since I don't u…

Win95 Time Machine

Hello.. I'm posting this with a Seanix P266 (overclocked to 300MHz) and designed for Windows 95 and running Windows 95. It feels like I'm back in 1996 again when I first started on the internet. I was on the internet before most folks knew what it was. At that time, I was using a 486 with a 2mb Trident video card and 16mbs of ram. I was on dial up and I thought I had everything! I will never forget that feeling when I configured my computer and got connected for the first time..wow. I have been on the internet ever since. OK, well, bye.
