OK, now I'll admit that at times I may not be the brightest light in the room but I have a pretty good understanding of repairing a failed software mirror. That said, the damn thing won't boot without using a floppy. Here is a brief history: Windows 2003 Standard Two SCSI disks, disk0 and disk1, in a software mirror disk0 fails Open Disk Management and break mirror Remove failed disk and replace with new disk (failed disk was a Seagate and Dell sent out a Maxtor as a replacement) Reboot to working disk using a floppy Rebuild mirror At this point, all is well :) Remove boot floppy and reboot server Nothing, it will not boot Re-insert floppy and re…

The problem that I am running into is that all 25 of them log in at the same time, and when they do, several of them freeze and the TS stops responding. I have to end the task and have them log in again. Does anyone have any suggestions on this?

Hi All, Came across a customer that had a neighborhood child replace her hard drive and reinstall XP Home. Problem: the kid didn't realize he had to disconnect the zip drive before installing XP. So, the root drive is H: and not C:, making all kinds of problems with installing drivers, etc.. Question: is there a way to remap the root drive back to C: or am I looking at a reinstall of XP? Many thanks, -T

Hello, I have a very slow video playback (very choppy) whenever I play streaming video on the internet. I have read many posts to solve this problem but I cannot fix this. I am connected to a broadband connection for my internet. The internet runs very quickly. My computer has a lot of disk space and 512 RAM. I have defragmented my computer as well as done various cleaning to the system including checking for malware, viruses, disk cleanup. I only have 40 processes running which are mostly mcafee applications. I don't know what else I can do but everything I have tried does not fix the problem. I know my connection can give very good playback becau…

Recovering from a virus help

I am trying to help a person recover from an infected computer and am *almost* there, but have 1 nagging problem I can't seem to figure out. I am not 100% positive it is related to her infection. WinXP Home w/ SP2 (but obviously still needing some updates). Removed an old version of Norton and installed Corp Ed 10.2. * Had to run the updated virus defs manually because the computer wouldn't connect to symantec to do them automatically. Also installed Spybot Search & Destroy. Was able to do those updates. Rebooted into Safe Mode - ran both AV and Spybot. Found 12 spyware & 14 virii (one of them had 60+ occurances). Cleaned those off - but had a …

I have a HP Pavilion 4509 and a 6511 preloaded with Windows 98 SE. The 14" Monitor is a HP Pavilion M50 CRT model No D5258A. I had downloaded and installed a Security Update KB891711 from Windows Update website and then I thought that this update caused a problem and so I removed it from the "Add/Remove Programs". I had restarted the PC and to my dismay, I found that ALL other listed programs had simply disappeared - but NOT the programs themselves! What could have caused this and how could I restore it - in the list? Thanking you Capt K Ripendran

by Guest ColTom2- 6 replies

Hi: Does anyone know how to completely remove all versions of Media Player and reinstall Media Player 11. I think a lot of the problems are carried forward from former versions when you unistall version 11 and it rolls back to version 10 etc. I would like to completely remove ALL versions and start a new with Media Player 11. I had no problems whatsoever with Player 11, until I reformatted and now I have a lot as descibed in various postings, i.e. Library, Ablum Art, Plugins etc. Thanks, Col Tom
